The PositionThe Position

As a Data Scientist you will join the data science cluster in the Roche Informatics Data and Analytics Chapter (DnA). You will be part of one or several multi-disciplinary agile teams where you’ll actively craft the future of healthcare by using data science methods and principles to generate deeper insights from a phenomenal variety of data sources. To achieve this, you will proactively identify needs, design and implement analytical solutions, provide advice and consulting support to our key stakeholders and show impact by executing proof-of-value initiatives, or contributing to existing products. 

The Opportunity:

• Research, design, and implement state-of-the-art NLP models, focusing on large-scale transformer architectures.

• Fine-tune and optimize pre-trained LLMs for domain-specific applications.

• Develop, test, and deploy NLP solutions for tasks such as text classification, named entity recognition, sentiment analysis, summarization, and conversational AI.

• Work with large-scale datasets, including data preprocessing, augmentation, and feature engineering.

• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to integrate NLP models into scalable applications and platforms.

• Conduct research and stay up to date with advancements in deep learning, NLP, and LLMs to improve the company's AI capabilities.

• Optimize model efficiency, reducing computational costs while maintaining performance.

• Ensure ethical AI practices, addressing bias, fairness, and interpretability in NLP applications.

• Mentor junior data scientists and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Who you are:

• PhD in Computer Science with experience in Generative AI.

• Hands-on experience with Python programming and common NLP libraries (e.g., transformers, gensim, spaCy, etc.)

• Strong experience with transformer-based architectures (GPT, BERT, LLaMA, etc.).

• Proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch.

• Hands-on experience with NLP libraries like Hugging Face Transformers, SpaCy, NLTK, and OpenAI’s API.

• Experience working with cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and deploying AI models at scale.

• Knowledge of MLOps, including model versioning, deployment pipelines, and monitoring.

• Proven understanding of software engineering best practices, including Git, CI/CD, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

• Excellent problem-solving skills, research ability, and communication skills.

• International, results oriented mindset with can do attitude.

• Proficiency in written and spoken English.
