THE ROLE (Porto or Lisbon based)
As a Data Scientist specialising in product matching and price optimization, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining our competitive edge. By leveraging advanced Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Computer Vision techniques, you will develop solutions to accurately match our products with those of our competitors. This will enable us to monitor competitor pricing effectively and optimise our pricing strategies accordingly.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Develop Scalable Solutions: Work on creating scalable solutions that can handle large volumes of data and requests daily, ensuring high performance and reliability.
- Develop Advanced Algorithms: Design and implement state-of-the-art algorithms in product matching and price optimization, using advanced Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Computer Vision techniques.
- Integrate Machine Learning Solutions: Collaborate closely with the engineering team to embed machine learning algorithms into our pricing platforms and product matching systems.
- Innovate Product Features: Assist in designing new features related to product matching and pricing strategies, driving innovation within the company.
- Conduct Impactful Experiments: Perform experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of new ideas or implementations, analysing data to identify challenges and opportunities, and deriving actionable insights.
- Prototype and Deploy ML Pipelines: Prototype, test, and productionize machine learning pipelines focused on enhancing product matching accuracy and price competitiveness.
WHO YOU ARE
- Educational Background: MSc or PhD in relevant fields such as Machine Learning, Data Science, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, or related disciplines.
- Expertise in Python and ML Libraries: Strong proficiency in Python and familiarity with data science and machine learning libraries like Pandas, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.
- Deep Understanding of ML Algorithms: Solid grasp of state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms, including advanced deep learning techniques, and experience with models such as transformers and convolutional neural networks.
- Proficient in NLP and Computer Vision: Demonstrated experience in applying NLP and Computer Vision techniques to solve product matching problems.
- Experience with Databricks or Spark: Proven experience using Databricks or Apache Spark for large-scale data processing, analytics, and building machine learning pipelines.
- Research and Analytical Skills: Ability to conduct practical research with a scientific mindset, focusing on delivering actionable results and insights.
- Collaborative Team Player: Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Exceptional Problem-Solver: Excellent problem-solving skills, adapt at abstracting complex problems into essential components and developing effective solutions.
