Job Summary: The REMOTE Data Scientist, Customer Analytics works on a wide variety of analytics projects including customer data exploration, data/analytics engineering, customer profiling, segmentation, predictive modeling, machine learning/AI, campaign targeting strategy, campaign effectiveness measurement, forecasting, and optimization in support of marketing/promotions. This role is responsible for providing testing support to business users through collaboration and thought leadership. The position requires a strong foundation in hypothesis development, A/B testing, understanding statistical significance, and applying it to the business.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Extract and process large quantities of data from data warehouses and other data marts in support of assignments using data engineering

  • Analyze and develop insights into business metrics identifying cause-effect relationships between marketing levers and outcomes

  • Scope, develop, and complete data science projects such as customer profiling, segmentation, predictive modeling, forecasting, and optimization; follow process to document project charter, measurement plan, and key milestones

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to document each customer data analysis project: purpose, focus, and key business objectives and design, develop, and implement data-driven solutions

  • Create and send Customer Performance Reporting/Dashboards

  • Work closely with key stakeholders (Marketing, Stores, IT, Finance) as a trusted advisor to foster a culture of analytics-driven decision making by using Test & Learn: assess the business questions and goals, then determine best approach to maximize learnings and drive business impact

  • Design tests (test size/duration, KPIs, A/B test vs. MVT etc.) that adhere to testing best practices and maximize insights

  • Work directly and collaborate with business owners to plan, execute, and analyze all A/B & MVT tests, including QA of test designs

  • Provide analysis of each experiment to understand the impact on key KPIs that can be fed into business initiatives (e.g. marketing campaigns, etc.)

  • Complete all required training modules and certifications prior to the due date

  • Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed to ensure a safe work environment for all

  • Communicate professionally with all internal and external contacts

  • Follow all Company policies and execute Company standards on appearance and functionality as well as appropriate brand representation

  • Communicate any concerns or issues to leadership to ensure proper efficiency of department and company operations

Non-Essential Responsibilities

  • Contribute ideas on ways to optimize or improve the team, the department, and the Company

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Math, Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research or related field required

  • Master's Degree in Statistics, Math, Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Research or related field preferred

Professional Experience

  • 8+ Years work experience as a machine learning engineer, data scientist or an analyst

  • Experience using BI tools and creating dashboard report and visualizations (Tableau, Power BI) required

  • Marketing analytics or retail experience preferred

  • GCP (Google Cloud Platform) experience preferred

  • Experience with distributive computing environments and associated data engineering tools (e.g. Spark, Databricks, Snowflake, Scala, etc.) preferred

  • Experience with testing platforms (e.g. MarketDial, APT, Adobe Target, Optimizely, etc.)

  • Experience using Google Analytics and understanding of online metrics

  • Identify trends, patterns, and anomalies found in big data (structured and unstructured data sources) and customer data sets by performing data analysis using programming, machine learning/AI, analytical techniques and tools

  • Knowledge of testing methodologies and statistics (e.g. design of experiments, statistical significance, causal inference, factor analysis)

Skills List

  • Able to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies found in big data (structured and unstructured data sources) and customer data sets by performing data analysis using programming, statistical, and analytical techniques and tools

  • Adept at using and applying machine learning concepts such as analytic engineering, linear/logistic regressions, ANOVA, cluster analysis, factor analysis, time series forecasting, experimental design, decision trees, boosting models, neural networks, Bayesian methodologies, etc.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Skilled in building predictive/machine learning models independently with full model development cycle (from data cleaning to scoring and production)

  • Ability to present complex analysis in a concise manner, easy for non-analytics audiences to understand

  • Can appropriately prioritize book of work on critical activities that yield high impact and effectively achieve results

  • Perform data engineering, data mining, cleaning, and aggregation processes to prepare data, implement data models, and conduct analysis on structured and unstructured data sources

  • Adhere to process to drive accountability and ensure deadlines are met in a timely manner

Competencies & Knowledge

  • Microsoft Office Products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

  • BI Tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, etc.)

  • Machine Learning/AI and Analytical techniques

  • Understanding of relational databases and transactional data. Comfortable using SQL and other query tools to prepare data, organize, aggregate, and analyze data based on business question or project requirement.

  • Understanding of distributive computing environments

  • Proficiency with analytics and data engineering tools (R, Python, Spark, Scala, etc.)

  • Experience using Google Analytics and understanding of online metrics

$120,000 - $130,000
