Job Description

To ensure that Visa’s payment technology is truly available to everyone, everywhere requires the success of our key bank or merchant partners and internal business units. The Internal AI & Data Science Practice group supports these partners by using our outstandingly rich data set that spans more than 3 billion cards globally and collects more than 100 billion transactions in a single year. Our focus lies on building creative solutions that have an immediate impact on the business of our highly analytical partners. We work in complementary teams comprising members from Data Science and various groups at Visa. To support our rapidly growing group we are looking for Senior Managers who are equally passionate about the opportunity to use Visa’s rich data to solve meaningful business problems. You will join one of the Data Science focus areas supporting an internal product and/or function at Visa, with a rotational opportunity within Data Science to gain broad exposure to Visa’s business.

We are looking for a seasoned individual contributor who is comfortable engaging with business owners, data enthusiasts, and technology teams. Successful candidates have strong experience in developing complex data solutions for business intelligence applications. This role will be hands-on and focused on building data pipelines, business intelligence solutions at scale and with a focus on sustained operational excellence.

Responsibilities

The BI Engineer, Internal AI & Data Science Practice, will be responsible for developing automated, scalable, and client-facing dashboards. We are looking for candidates with a proven history of developing BI dashboards, with strong proficiency in SQL, other programming languages in a Big Data environment, and data visualization tools

• Work collaboratively with Data Scientists, Data Engineer, Software Engineers and cross-functional partners to design and deploy Visa dashboards and related products
• Develop and maintain automated ETL pipelines using tools like Apache Airflow, Spark, Python, or HIVE to support internal reporting and ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency.
• Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Power BI or similar tools
• Utilize Visa's data analytics capabilities, technology, and industry expertise to develop, standardize, and implement a streamlined BI architecture
• Participate in business requirements gathering, effort sizing, architecture planning and front-end designing of dashboards
• Strong problem-solving capabilities and ability to quickly propose feasible solutions and effectively communicate strategy and risk mitigation approaches to leadership.
• Define and build technical/data documentation and experience with code version control systems (for e.g., git). Ensure data accuracy, integrity and consistency

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
• 5 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Master’s, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD degree
Preferred Qualifications
• 5 years of work experience with a bachelor’s degree or 2 years of work experience with an advanced degree (e.g. Master’s, MBA, JD, MD), or 0 years of experience with a PhD
• Experience in dashboard development and design using data visualization tools, preferably Tableau, is required
• Experience building and maintaining ETL processes in Hadoop, including data quality and testing
• Advanced knowledge of SQL with experience in Python, Spark, and exposure to scheduling tools like Apache Airflow
• Ability to communicate data-driven insights and convey actionable recommendations
• Experience working in an Agile or fast-paced and dynamic environment is a plus
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
• Experience working with large scale data ingestion, processing and storage in distributed computing environments / big data platforms (Hadoop) as well as common database systems and value stores (Parquet, Avro, HBase, etc.).
• Familiarity with both common computing environments (e.g., Linux, Shell Scripting) and commonly used IDE’s (Jupyter Notebooks).
