Take Part!  You'll be part of the Business Computing (BC) group, supporting Finance and Procurement.

Your mission: analyse, improve, and help modernise reporting and data solutions, while supporting the transformation of CERN's enterprise systems and ensuring that future analytics needs are properly understood and addressed.

Your responsibilities:

  • Extract, transform, model, and visualise data in reports, dashboards, and analytics platforms;
  • Interact with relational databases, mainly Oracle, using SQL and PL/SQL;
  • Develop, maintain, and test reporting data models and semantic models supporting CERN's Finance and Procurement systems;
  • Maintain, support, and enhance existing reporting and data solutions while helping define and implement their future evolution;
  • Contribute to data profiling, mapping, quality checks, validation, and reconciliation activities during migration and transition phases;
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of ETL/ELT pipelines and other data-processing activities where required;
  • Collaborate with business users, functional experts, architects, and developers to ensure data consistency, usability, and technical feasibility;
  • Support testing, troubleshooting, documentation, maintenance, and third-level support for reporting and data solutions.

Your profile:

Data Analysis & Reporting:

  • Experience in SQL (writing, optimising, debugging complex queries).
  • Familiarity with data visualisation or analytics tools such as Power BI, R, or Python-based dashboards.
  • Understanding of data modelling principles (dimensional/star schema design, semantic models, data warehouses).
  • Experience analysing data structures, flows, and dependencies in complex enterprise systems.

Data Engineering:

  • Exposure to data pipeline concepts and tools such as SQL, dbt, Airflow, or Python for data processing.
  • Interest in maintaining and modernising reporting and data solutions during a systems transformation.

Business Processes & User Support:

  • Interest in providing end-user support, troubleshooting, escalation, and issue resolution.
  • Awareness of Finance and Procurement processes or interest in learning about business domains.

Collaboration:

  • Experience working in group projects, ideally in collaborative or Agile environments.

Skills:

Data & Analytics:

  • Excellent knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
  • Knowledge of data visualisation and analytics tools, particularly Power BI.
  • Ability to contribute to the design and maintenance of data models for reporting and analytics.
  • Ability to understand and document complex data structures, data flows, dependencies, and transformation logic.

Data Governance & Quality:

  • Awareness of data quality, security, and governance concepts.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.

Technical Environment:

  • Knowledge of version control systems and basic interaction with Linux servers via the command line.
  • Knowledge of Agile practices and experience maintaining reporting solutions and data pipelines in an agile environment.
  • Comfortable in working with both new and legacy systems.

Communication & Collaboration:

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex information effectively.
  • Spoken and written English, with a commitment to learn French.

Eligibility criteria:

  • You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
  • By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Computer Science (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
  • Applicants without University degree are not eligible.
  • Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.

Additional Information

Job closing date: 30.08.2026 at 23:59 CEST.

Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.

Working hours: 40 hours per week

Job flexibility: Hybrid
