About the role.
The Data Quality and Governance Engineer plays a critical role in strengthening McCain's enterprise data foundation by ensuring data is accurate, trusted, secure, and well-governed. As part of McCain's digital transformation journey, this role will lead data quality and governance initiatives, implement metadata management and cataloging practices, and support the deployment of governance tools and policies. By partnering with business and technical stakeholders, the Data Quality and Governance Engineer helps enable reliable, compliant, and business-ready data that supports operational excellence and strategic decision-making.
What you'll be doing.
- Establish and maintain enterprise data quality frameworks, standards, and controls focused on accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, and validity.
- Perform data profiling, validation, monitoring, and cleansing activities using data quality and governance tools.
- Leverage AI-enabled capabilities, including anomaly detection and metadata classification, to improve data governance and quality processes.
- Conduct root cause analysis and coordinate remediation efforts for identified data quality issues.
- Define and monitor data quality metrics, KPIs, validation rules, and compliance requirements in partnership with business and technical stakeholders.
- Document business rules, validation logic, data definitions, and exception management processes for critical data assets.
- Manage and maintain enterprise metadata, data catalog, and data lineage documentation across platforms and domains.
- Collaborate with data engineers, architects, data stewards, and business teams to capture data flows, transformations, and lineage.
- Support the implementation, optimization, and adoption of data governance, reference data, and data quality tools.
- Deliver governance training, onboarding, reporting, and documentation to drive awareness, compliance, and adoption of data governance practices.
What you'll need to be successful.
- Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in data governance, data management, data engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of metadata standards, data lineage, data classification, and governance best practices.
- Proficiency in SQL and/or Python for data profiling, validation, analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Experience collaborating with business stakeholders, data owners, data stewards, IT teams, and cross-functional partners.
- Hands-on experience with data governance and data quality platforms such as Ataccama, Syniti, Collibra, Microsoft Purview, Informatica, or Alation.
- Experience working with modern cloud data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, AWS, or similar technologies.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and stakeholders.
- Experience developing metrics and KPIs to measure governance effectiveness, business impact, and compliance.
- Familiarity with data management and governance frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM, or similar.
- Preferred: Knowledge of consumer packaged goods (CPG) data domains, including product hierarchies, SKU management, and regulatory requirements.
- Preferred: Exposure to AI governance, responsible AI principles, and data considerations for AI/ML solutions.
- Preferred: AIGP certification.

The Data Quality and Governance Engineer is part of McCain's Global Data Governance team, a collaborative group focused on enabling trusted, high-quality data across regions and global functions. The team partners closely with business stakeholders, data engineering, architecture, analytics, and security teams to establish governance standards, improve data quality, and maximize the value of enterprise data assets across the organization.
