We have an exciting opportunity for a Data Privacy Specialist (DPS) – we are open to applications from candidates and whilst prior privacy experience would be an advantage we are interested to hear from those with no experience in this area as what is important is: -

This role will give you the opportunity to develop your career in Data Privacy, work with a team who not only provide privacy support across Group Functions but are also owners of the Privacy Compliance Framework for Capita. You’ll undertake external training to receive a nationally recognised qualification, this can be done either as distance learning, or a one-week course.
As the Group Data Privacy Specialist (DPS) you will assist the Chief/ Deputy Data Protection Officers in the implementation, updating and maintenance of our privacy policies and procedures across the Group Functions and wider business. You’ll work closely with the rest of the central Group Data Privacy Team to ensure that our data protection practices are compliant with relevant data protection laws and regulations and employees are made aware of privacy policies and procedures.

Job Description:
You’ll also be responsible for –
- Monitoring and managing the Group Data Privacy Mailboxes, dealing with internal and external enquiries directly where appropriate and/or ensuring that relevant team members receive those requests
- Managing the Data Privacy Team internal SharePoint site and Data Privacy Hub are maintained and kept up to date
- Fulfilling Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), as required
As you develop responsibilities will also include -
- Monitoring compliance with data protection laws and regulations by keeping up to date with changes in privacy laws and regulations and communicating any updates or changes to relevant stakeholders within the Group functions.
- Advising stakeholders on privacy-related matters, including risk assessments, data protection impact assessments (DPIAs), and privacy-by-design principles. This will involves working closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, HR, Legal, and Risk and Compliance teams, to ensure that privacy policies and procedures are aligned with Capita’s objectives and implemented effectively.
- Providing guidance on best practices for handling personal data, assist in conducting privacy training and awareness activities, including training sessions, presentations, and online resources. This involves developing training materials and working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that employees understand their obligations under relevant data protection laws and regulations.
- Assisting the business service teams by advising on the processing of individual rights requests and resolution of individual complaints.

- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and assess privacy risks and develop appropriate solutions. Competent level of Excel.
- Able to work independently and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing business needs and regulatory requirements, and be able to work effectively under pressure.
- Demonstrates the Capita Purpose, Values, Behaviours and Code of Conduct
- A good knowledge of data protection laws and regulations is an advantage but not essential.
