What you’ll be doing:
- ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) Pipelines: Adept at building and maintaining data pipelines that can process large volumes of healthcare data. This includes cleaning, validating, merging, and enriching data from disparate sources;
- Validation & Cleansing: Implement automated data validation rules to ensure data quality and integrity, proactively identifying errors such as mismatched fields, missing data, or invalid codes (e.g., ICD, CPT);
- Monitoring & Alerting: Sets up robust monitoring and alerting systems (e.g., via logs or dashboards) to detect processing failures, latency issues, or data anomalies in near real time.
What you need to have:
- Eligibility and Claims Data: In-depth knowledge of eligibility, medical claims, pharmacy claims, and prior authorization data, including how these data sets are structured, interpreted, and used across the healthcare ecosystem;
- Regulatory Knowledge: Competence in handling Protected Health Information (PHI) within HIPAA and other relevant regulatory frameworks, with a strong sense of data governance and security;
- Proven experience writing and optimizing SQL queries to extract and analyze large datasets;
- Knowledge of secure transport protocols (SFTP) and data encryption;
- Strong understanding of ETL processes, data integration, system architecture;
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Comfortable working with cross-functional teams—customer success managers, data engineers, product managers, clinical operations, payer partners—to gather and validate requirements, clarify data definitions, and ensure timely delivery of data feeds;
- Domain Communication: Capable of translating technical details into language that non-technical stakeholders understand, while also diving deep into technical specifics when collaborating with engineers;
- Vendor & Partner Relations: Negotiates technical requirements and SLAs (Service Level Agreements) with external vendors, payers, and healthcare networks, ensuring seamless interoperability;
- Detail-Oriented & Process-Driven: Capacity to maintain meticulous documentation of processes, to support troubleshooting and repeatability;
- Problem-Solving: Thrives on diagnosing issues, reconciling data discrepancies, and proposing process improvements that reduce recurring errors and operational overhead;
- Growth focused: Experience and desire to work in a fast-moving high growth environment and having the ability to plan, organize, prioritize and execute multiple activities/projects simultaneously.
What we would love to see:
- Familiarity with data brokers like Availity or Change Healthcare, or familiarity with EDI workflows, especially 270/271 transactions;
- 3+ years of experience in a data-centric role.
