2. Key Responsibilities
Data Collection & Entry
Collect operational data from field teams, weighbridges, GPS/telematics systems, and other data sources on a daily basis
Enter all data accurately and promptly into the organisation’s data management systems (spreadsheets, databases, fleet management software, or operational management platforms)
Ensure data collection tools (forms, mobile applications, GPS logs) are properly used by field staff; train and support field teams on data capture procedures
Verify data at the point of entry and resolve discrepancies with field supervisors before submission
Data Validation & Quality Assurance
Conduct regular data quality checks to identify errors, duplicates, gaps, and inconsistencies in operational datasets
Implement data cleaning and correction procedures; maintain a data validation log
Ensure all datasets are complete, accurate, and reconciled against source documents before reporting
Report data quality issues to the Operations Manager and recommend corrective measures
Reporting & Analysis
Compile daily, weekly, and monthly operational performance reports covering waste collection volumes, disposal tonnages, fleet utilisation, route coverage, and service delivery KPIs
Prepare data summaries, dashboards, and visualisations to communicate performance trends clearly to management
Generate ad hoc reports and data extracts as requested by the Operations Manager, Finance team, and Country MD
Analyse operational data to identify trends, performance gaps, and opportunities for improvement; present findings with recommendations
Fleet & Route Data Management
Maintain and analyse GPS/telematics data for the Zoomlion Kenya fleet; produce daily fleet utilisation and route compliance reports
Track and report on key fleet performance metrics including vehicle utilisation rates, route completion rates, fuel consumption, and idle time
Support the Workshop and Operations teams with data-driven insights on fleet performance and maintenance scheduling
Environmental & Regulatory Data
Compile and format environmental monitoring data for submission to NEMA and county regulatory authorities in line with permit requirements
Maintain accurate records of landfill intake, leachate volumes, gas monitoring readings, and other environmental data points
Support the preparation of regulatory compliance reports and client reporting with accurate, verified data
Systems & Database Management
Maintain and update operational databases and data management tools; ensure data systems are organised, backed up, and accessible to authorised users
Support the implementation or upgrade of data management systems and platforms
Ensure data security and confidentiality in line with company policy and the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019
Capacity Building
Train field staff and operational teams on data collection tools, procedures, and standards
Develop user guides and data collection SOPs for operational teams
Any other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager
QualificationsBachelor’s degree or Diploma in Statistics, Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Management, Business Administration, or a related field
Certification in data analysis, GIS, or database management is an advantage
Experience
Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in a data management, data entry, or operational reporting role
Experience working with GPS/telematics platforms or fleet management systems is an advantage
Experience in waste management, transport, logistics, or environmental services is preferred
Familiarity with mobile data collection tools (KoBoToolbox, ODK, or similar) is an advantage
Technical Skills
Advanced MS Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data validation, charts)
Experience with data management software, databases, or operational management platforms
Ability to produce clear, professional reports and dashboards (Power BI, Tableau, or Excel-based)
Familiarity with GPS/telematics data interpretation
Knowledge of the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019 and data governance principles
