Position Overview
Evernorth, a leading health services organization, seeks highly qualified data engineers, developers, and technical advisors to join our Data and Analytics team. In this Software Engineer / Advisor role, you will collaborate closely with your development team on initiatives aligned with Evernorth’s strategic objectives, while also serving as a trusted partner to stakeholders by providing advisory input on data architecture, platform design, and engineering best practices.
You will work alongside subject matter experts to accurately interpret complex business logic and translate it into scalable, well-engineered solutions. As an engineer and advisor, you will contribute to the design and implementation of unified architectural strategies, guiding technical direction to enable advanced reporting and analytical capabilities across the enterprise. The role operates within an agile environment, delivering user-centric solutions while influencing technical standards and long-term platform evolution.

Primary responsibilities include engineering and advising on scalable cloud-based solutions utilizing AWS Services, Databricks, Teradata Vantage, and CI/CD frameworks, as well as Microsoft applications and platforms such as PowerApps, Power BI, and related BI and analytics tools, to optimize data workflows, reduce manual intervention, enable self-service analytics, and improve end-to-end visibility and performance across the enterprise data ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Deliver functionality with accountability, technical excellence, and advisory guidance on engineering decisions and trade-offs.
- Demonstrate hands-on experience with AWS services while advising on best practices for secure, scalable cloud architectures.
- Design and implement solutions aligned with enterprise architecture and standards, providing architectural and design advisory input to teams and stakeholders.
- Leverage DevOps tools (e.g., GitHub, Jenkins, Terraform, Liquibase) to streamline deployment and operational processes, advising on CI/CD optimization and reliability improvements.
- Automate data workflows, validation, and monitoring to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention, serving as an advisor on automation strategy and operational resilience.
- Conduct peer code reviews, manage merge requests, and oversee production releases, acting as a technical advisor to reinforce quality, security, and maintainability standards.
- Apply Agile principles in design, development, and delivery, advising teams on effective agile execution and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate effectively in a high-performing team environment, providing mentorship and advisory support to engineers and cross‑functional partners.
- Demonstrate ownership, innovation, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, offering strategic technical advice to address complex and ambiguous challenges.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- 8-11 years of experience.
- Working knowledge of the following: Python, Databricks, SQL, Unix and Microsoft Power Platform Technologies
- Should have extensive hands-on experience in AWS services such as Lambda, Step Functions, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, SNS, SQS, S3, VPC, EC2, RDS, and IAM.
- Experience working with SPARK and real time analytic frameworks.
- Documented experience in a business intelligence or analytic development role on a variety of large-scale projects.
- Working experience relevant to standard SDLC (build, test, deploy) and building web service (HTTP API/RPC).
- Ability to rapidly prototype and storyboard/wireframe development as part of application design.
- Write referenceable and modular code.
- Willingness to continuously learn and share learnings with others.
- Ability to communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions clearly and effectively to teams and clients.
- Ability to manipulate and transform large datasets efficiently.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills to root cause complex issues.
Required Experience & Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline with 5 to 8 years of experience in application program development, or the equivalent in education and work experience.
Desired Experience:
- AWS certification preferred
