Data Management Strategy & Governance Advisor - HIH - Evernorth
Position Overview
Evernorth, a leading health services organization, seeks highly qualified data engineers and developers to join our Data and Analytics team. In this position, you will collaborate closely with your development team on projects aligned with Evernorth’s strategic objectives and work alongside subject matter experts to accurately interpret business logic for engineering purposes.
The MDM Operations Advisor provides expert-level leadership and subject matter expertise in Master Data Management (MDM) Operations, with a focus on Client and Producer domains. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality, reliable, and governed master data through operational oversight, data quality management, and cross-functional collaboration.
The Advisor applies deep knowledge of data governance, data quality frameworks, and MDM platforms to drive consistency, operational efficiency, and data integrity across enterprise systems. This individual is recognized as a trusted advisor to business and technology leaders, contributing to strategic initiatives while ensuring seamless day-to-day operations.
Responsibilities
MDM Operations & Production Support
Lead daily operations for Client & Producer MDM, ensuring stability, performance, and data accuracy
Manage and resolve production support incidents through ServiceNow (SNOW), adhering to defined SLAs and best practices
Perform and oversee match/merge review activities (including manual review of potential match pairs)
Conduct root cause analysis and partner with upstream/downstream teams to remediate data issues
Data Quality & Governance
Monitor and improve data quality through ongoing analysis of DQ reports, exception reporting, and audit processes
Understand and manage critical data elements (CDEs), taking action on insights derived from data quality metrics
Collaborate with Data Governance teams to identify and enforce policies, standards, definitions, and data stewardship practices
Reporting & Analytics
Develop operational dashboards and monthly reporting to provide visibility into MDM health, trends, and KPIs
Leverage BI tools (e.g., Tableau) to identify data issues and support business decision-making
Deliver actionable insights to stakeholders to improve data quality and operational efficiency
Engineering Collaboration & Solution Enablement
Partner with Engineering teams to troubleshoot and enhance system functionality, including:
Data mappings and transformations
Match/merge logic and survivorship rules
Automation opportunities and system enhancements
Provide input into future-state architecture and MDM platform evolution (e.g., migration strategies, automation enablement)
Thought Leadership & Continuous Improvement
Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in MDM operations, data governance, and data quality
Identify opportunities to leverage automation, AI, and advanced analytics to reduce manual effort and improve outcomes
Drive innovation across operational processes, tooling, and reporting capabilities
Contribute to enterprise-wide data strategy initiatives and cross-functional programs
Qualifications
Required Skills:
5+ years of experience in Master Data Management, Data Governance, or Data Operations
Proven experience with MDM platforms such as Informatica, Reltio, IBM, or TAMR
Strong SQL proficiency with the ability to analyze, manipulate, and troubleshoot data
Experience with data tools and platforms such as Databricks, TOAD, SQL Developer, Collibra, Tableau, and ServiceNow
Solid understanding of:
Data modeling and data warehousing
Data quality frameworks and governance practices
Reference data and metadata management.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred)

Required Experience & Education:
