OVERVIEW:
Enterprise Data & Analytics is adding a Data Management Senior to its Business Engagement & Communications team. The person hired into this position will support the implementation of M&T’s data strategy by engaging with people in data roles throughout M&T. They will coordinate with stakeholders to provide implementation and planning support for data policy, standards, and critical data management capabilities. They will monitor adherence to enterprise data policies and standards and provide support to data teams.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead stakeholder engagements to ensure federated data management teams, data management capability owners, and data subject matter experts are effectively collaborating
- Serve as data management subject matter expert to advise organization on effective data management practices
- Administer data governance tools
- Consult with business lines to develop implementation plans for data management capabilities
- Perform analyses and gap assessments to understand progress towards data strategy implementation
- Provide tactical support to business line implementation plans, including collection of technical metadata, management of issues, and prioritization and classification of data
- Assist data management capability owners in communication planning for federated data management teams
- Maintain currency on changing industry standards and pertinent Federal and international government regulations on data management and its subsequent impact on related policies and procedures
- Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
- Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
- Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

MANAGERIAL/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 years higher education and/ or work experience, including a minimum of 5 years related experience
- Experience in with analytical/statistical tools
- Experience analyzing data to draw valid conclusions
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate to non-technical individuals about technical topics and influence others
- Intermediate knowledge of the data lifecycle, data management concepts, terminology, roles, and responsibilities
- Experience completing data research using industry standard research methods
- Experience developing and/or implementing data management and/or data governance policy and standards with limited oversight
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
- Experience with data management and query languages
- Experience with data management at a financial institution
Experience measuring and enforcing data governance policy and standards in a local area
M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $97,869.52 - $163,115.87 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
