Wells Fargo is seeking a Data Management & Governance Tooling (DMGT) Senior Manager to lead the strategy, engineering, delivery, and operations of enterprise data governance platforms and products. This leader will oversee teams responsible for metadata management, data lineage, data quality, data observability, governance workflows, platform engineering, and product enablement capabilities that support the firm's regulatory, risk, and business objectives.
The role requires managing & working closely with a diverse organization of engineering managers, product owners, architects, platform engineers, and governance specialists while driving modernization, operational excellence, adoption, and innovation across Wells Fargo's enterprise data management ecosystem. The successful candidate will balance strategic vision, technical leadership, talent development, risk management, and delivery execution to ensure DMGT products remain scalable, secure, resilient, and aligned with enterprise data strategy.
In this Role, you will
  • Lead, coach, and develop multiple teams of engineering managers, product owners, platform engineers, metadata specialists, and governance professionals responsible for delivering enterprise data management and governance capabilities
  • Drive the strategic roadmap for metadata management, business metadata, data lineage, data quality, observability, reference data, and governance workflow platforms
  • Partner with Enterprise Data Management, CDO organizations, Technology Architecture, Cybersecurity, and Risk teams to align solutions with enterprise data strategy and regulatory requirements
  • Champion modernization initiatives, including migration to next-generation data platforms, cloud-enabled services, automation frameworks, AI-assisted governance capabilities, and scalable metadata management solutions
  • Function as the technology and product leader for DMGT platforms during enterprise planning, governance reviews, audits, regulatory initiatives, and cross-functional delivery engagements
  • Remove organizational and technical impediments impacting delivery teams while fostering Agile, DevOps, and product-centric delivery practice
  • Drive engineering excellence through architecture reviews, code quality standards, platform observability, operational resilience, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Establish and enforce data governance standards, metadata policies, lineage controls, data quality frameworks, and compliance requirements across supported platforms
  • Partner with Product Managers and Business Stakeholders to prioritize roadmaps, define success measures, improve customer adoption, and deliver measurable business outcomes
  • Lead vendor relationships and strategic partnerships supporting data governance, data quality, metadata management, observability, and engineering tooling capabilities
  • Manage multi-million-dollar budgets, resource allocations, vendor contracts, and workforce planning to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and delivery commitment
  • Build a high-performing, globally distributed organization focused on innovation, operational excellence, customer obsession, and continuous learning
Required Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 3+ years of management or leadership experience
  • 3+ years of direct management experience
  • 5+ years of experience leading enterprise-scale platforms supporting data governance, metadata management, data quality, observability, or related data management functions

  • Strong understanding of enterprise data governance, metadata management, business lineage, technical lineage, and data catalog capabilities
  • Experience with enterprise metadata platforms, Metadata Hub, Data Quality, governance workflows, and related data management technologies
  • Hands-on knowledge of modern data engineering practices, APIs, microservices, cloud platforms, DevOps, CI/CD, and platform automation
  • Experience driving large-scale platform modernization and migration programs
  • Proven ability to influence executive stakeholders across Technology, Data Management, Risk, Compliance, Audit, and Business organizations
  • Experience managing geographically distributed teams across the U.S. and India
  • Strong understanding of regulatory data management requirements and governance frameworks within financial services
  • Demonstrated success delivering data quality, data lineage, and metadata governance capabilities at enterprise scale
  • Expertise in operational excellence, platform reliability, observability, capacity planning, and production support models
  • Strong financial management skills with experience managing large technology budgets and vendor engagement
  • Excellent communication, executive presentation, and organizational leadership capabilities
  • Track record of building a culture of innovation, accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement
