Job Description:

One of Pattern’s four core values is Data Fanaticism, and the Master Data Management (MDM) team is in a unique position to enable that for all Pattern employees. Master Data is, by definition, shared across teams and systems, so it must be managed to meet the needs of all users. The purpose of the Master Data Management (MDM) team is to maximize the value of Pattern’s master data assets by ensuring data is complete, accurate, consistent, and accessible to users. This requires MDM team members to collaborate effectively with a wide variety of users who have a variety of business needs.

As a data management analyst, you will report to the Master Data Manager and work on a combination of recurring tasks done on a regular cadence and one-off assignments done on an as-needed basis.

Recurring responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing data quality reports to identify opportunities to improve data quality related to such entities as products, listings, partners/brands, and contracts
  • Responding to questions about data quality tasks that are auto-generated in Asana
  • Maintaining metadata (e.g. definitions) for attributes in Pattern’s in-house Product Catalog
  • Merging duplicate product records, including identifying which values should persist in the merged product
  • Maintaining the "listing reconciliation" process by matching listings to the correct products in the Product Catalog
  • Documenting the way the Product Catalog is to be maintained by data stewards
  • Coordinating with Product Managers to develop new attributes and integrate them into Pattern’s other applications and business processes

As needed, you may:

  • Supporting brand managers and their assigned Ecommerce Project Managers (EPM) in maintaining product and listing data for their assigned brands
  • Perform ad hoc analysis (e.g., writing and running SQL queries to answer questions)
  • Modify existing Tableau reports

The ideal candidate will::

  • Total experience between 3-5 years, with minimum 2 years experience in SW
  • Have experience with E-commerce, particularly Amazon
  • Speak proficient English
  • Work independently
  • Write complex SQL queries that join tables, concatenate columns, clean data, create views, etc.
  • Identify the right tool for analysis (SQL, Excel, Python, etc.) and use those tools to join datasets for meaningful analysis.
  • Use common Excel functions such as XLookup, VLookup, Find, Concatenate, Left, Right, IF, IFError, etc.
  • Recommend process changes within the Master Data team to increase team efficiency or business process changes within Pattern to improve data quality or data collection efficiency (i.e., thinking beyond the present task to see the bigger picture)
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders and users of Pattern Master Data
