We operate within a people‑first, advisory‑led model that blends deep sector expertise with data‑driven insight. As part of a global insurance group, we work with insurers across the market to secure competitive, tailored solutions for our clients. Data plays a central role in how we evaluate risk, understand customer behaviour, support trading performance, and enhance the experience of both clients and partners.

About the Role

We are looking for a curious, analytical, and proactive Data Insights Analyst to join the Data Science & Analytics team within Howden UK&I. In this role, you will help shape data-driven decision-making by analysing and communicating insights from data, and developing reporting solutions that enable stakeholders to make informed, strategic decisions.
With a particular focus on the health insurance market, you will partner closely with Product Managers, Business Intelligence, Data Science, Data Engineering, and broader business teams to analyse customer behaviour, market performance, and operational trends, uncovering opportunities for growth, enhancing customer outcomes, and supporting strategic business objectives.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who combines strong analytical thinking with a natural curiosity about business and enjoys working in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance reporting solutions, data visualisations, and storytelling outputs that transform complex datasets into clear, meaningful insights for stakeholders.
  • Identify, analyse, and communicate emerging trends, risks, opportunities, and key performance drivers to support informed business decision-making.
  • Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data through validation, cleansing, and ongoing data quality monitoring.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships by gathering requirements, understanding business challenges, incorporating feedback, and continuously improving analytical solutions to meet evolving needs.
  • Support stakeholders in defining, understanding, and interpreting key performance indicators, ensuring alignment with strategic and operational objectives.
  • Present analytical findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner, translating complex analysis into measurable outcomes.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience applying statistical and analytical techniques to generate meaningful insights and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Experience developing reports and dashboards using Power BI or similar business intelligence tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present complex findings clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong SQL skills, with experience extracting, manipulating, and analysing large and complex datasets.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a natural curiosity to explore data, challenge assumptions, and uncover insights.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on analytical environment and able to quickly add value.
  • A keen interest in learning about a broad range of insurance products and understanding how data supports underwriting, pricing, distribution, and operational performance.
  • Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or another relevant quantitative discipline.

Desirable

  • Exposure to modern data platforms such as Databricks.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing, data modelling, and cloud-based analytics environments.
  • Experience using Python, R, or other analytical programming languages for data analysis and automation.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse customer, behavioural, operational, or product data to identify trends, opportunities, risks, and areas for improvement.
  • Experience working with project and delivery management tools such as Azure DevOps.
