What you will do in this role:

• Operational Monitoring: Monitor daily data quality and key metrics, perform necessary data curation (cleansing, transformation, and maintenance), and take corrective actions as needed.
• Data Quality & Curation: Proactively monitor and verify the accuracy and consistency of core voyages data, specifically focusing on complex areas like Dark/Grey Fleet activity.
• Analytical Support: Utilize the shipping data lake to conduct ad-hoc data analysis and provide clear, direct answers to relevant business questions.
• Automation & Scripting: Perform simple, contained coding assignments (e.g., using Python/SQL) to automate data quality checks and streamline workflows.
• Data Organization: Consolidate and organize data for business analysis and reporting purposes.
• Reporting & Visualization: Analyze, visualize, and clearly present data results and insights to the team and relevant stakeholders.
• Domain Development: Utilize and expand shipping domain knowledge.

What you bring to the team:

• Academic background in either Engineering/Informatics/Mathematics
• Talent and effectiveness in discovering and using references/resources/datasets on the Internet
• Passion for data quality and high attention to detail
• Practiced skills in manipulating data in SQL, Google Sheets/Microsoft Excel, or other similar technology
• Coding knowledge in Python or R
• A keen interest in learning more about commodities lifecycle and trading
• Good organization skills, attention to detail and willingness to work in and help the team
• Capacity for professionalism and willingness to integrate into a corporate culture
• Excellent command of written and spoken English
  

Experience in the following may also be positively evaluated:

• Data Analysis initiatives
• Data Engineering / Science concepts (e.g. remote learning courses completed)
