Data Governance Senior Associate

The Data Governance Senior Associate supports the implementation and execution of enterprise data governance and data risk management programs across assigned business domains. Working closely with Data Owners, Data Stewards, technology teams, and governance stakeholders, this role helps ensure data governance requirements are documented, implemented, monitored, and maintained in accordance with established policies, standards, and procedures.

The role combines governance execution, data analysis, metadata management, lineage documentation, stakeholder engagement, and risk assessment support to improve data quality, transparency, and regulatory compliance across the organization.

Your Primary Responsibilities:

• Drive implementation of enterprise Data Governance policies, standards, and procedures within assigned business areas.
• Communicate governance requirements, risks, dependencies, and implementation progress to project teams and stakeholders.
• Lead onboarding activities for data domains, systems, reports, and critical data elements into governance processes.
• Independently manage assigned governance projects and workstreams through the lifecycle from initiation through closing, including project planning, identification of resource requirements, effort estimation, tracking of deliverables, and escalation of risks and dependencies.
• Partner with Data Owners and Data Stewards to drive the collection, documentation, validation, and maintenance of business metadata, technical metadata, and lineage information.
• Support governance tool adoption efforts including metadata repositories, lineage platforms, and data quality solutions.
• Define, track, and report governance KPIs and metrics for identified use cases, and develop dashboards, presentations, and status reports that support stakeholder decision-making.
• Facilitate meetings and working sessions with business and technology stakeholders to drive decisions, resolve issues, and advance governance deliverables.
• Gather and translate business requirements into technical development through clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and implementation requirements.
• Drive Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) activities under the direction of governance leadership, including the documentation of data-related risks, controls, assessment rationale, and remediation activities.
• Mitigate risk by following established procedures, monitoring controls, identifying key errors or control gaps, escalating issues appropriately, and demonstrating strong ethical behavior.

 Qualifications:

• 6+ years in data governance, data management, risk management, business analysis, or related disciplines.
• Experience working with data governance and metadata management platforms such as Collibra, Ataccama, or similar tools.
• Strong knowledge of data governance concepts, including Data Ownership, Data Stewardship, Critical Data Elements (CDEs), metadata management, data lineage, and data quality management.
• Demonstrated ability to apply established governance policies, standards, and procedures to business processes and strategic initiatives.
• Working knowledge of data lifecycle management, governance operating models, and governance controls.
• Experience gathering, documenting, and refining business requirements and translating them into actionable business and technology deliverables.
• Experience supporting risk management activities, governance assessments, RCSA processes, issue management, or control monitoring within a regulated environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to assess data, identify issues, evaluate risks, and recommend practical solutions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain governance concepts and influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage assigned projects or workstreams, balance multiple priorities, and drive high-quality deliverables to completion in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience defining and reporting KPIs and developing clear, concise, high-quality presentations and reporting tailored to stakeholders and leadership.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate documentation, reporting, governance artifacts, and stakeholder communications.
