Who are we looking for
The Data Governance Lead will lead the design and execution of a Unified Data Governance framework aligned to the enterprise data platform. This role is accountable for establishing consistent governance across data domains, platforms, and data products—ensuring trusted, compliant, and scalable data across the organization.
The role will play a critical leadership position in embedding governance directly into the new data platform—shifting from fragmented, control-based governance to a platform-driven, product-aligned governance model.

What you will be responsible for
As a Data Governance Lead, you will -
Data Governance Strategy
Define and execute enterprise data governance strategy aligned with the Unified Data Platform roadmap
Establish governance as a core pillar of enterprise data and AI enablement
Unified Governance Execution
Lead implementation of end-to-end governance across data lifecycle (ingest → transform → consume)
Ensure consistent governance practices across all domains and regions, including Bangalore delivery teams
Data Quality & Operations Alignment
Integrate governance with Data Operations model (issue management, remediation, monitoring)
Define enterprise KPIs/KRIs for governance and data quality performance
Stakeholder & Platform Alignment
Partner with:
Data Platform Engineering
MDM / Reference Data teams
Analytics & AI teams
Drive alignment between governance standards and platform capabilities
Additional Skills
Strong Experience In:
Enterprise Data Platforms (Databricks / Snowflake / MDM ecosystems)
Data Product lifecycle management
Metadata & lineage tools (Collibra or equivalent)
Governance automation and workflow orchestration
Qualifications
Core Experience
10+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or Data Strategy
Proven leadership experience managing global teams
Strong background in financial services / asset management (highly preferred)
Experience implementing enterprise data governance frameworks and operating models
Technical & Functional Expertise
Deep knowledge of:
Data Governance frameworks (e.g., DCAM, DAMA)
Data Quality, Metadata, and Lineage management
Master Data Management (MDM) concepts and platforms
Experience with governance and data tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alteryx, etc.)
Strong understanding of data architecture, data models, and taxonomy
Regulatory & Risk Awareness
Familiarity with regulatory expectations (e.g., BCBS 239, data privacy, risk frameworks)
Experience working with audit, compliance, and risk stakeholders
Ability to align governance practices with regulatory and internal control requirements
Leadership & Soft Skills
Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to influence without authority across business and technology teams
Proven ability to drive organizational change and adoption
Strategic thinker with strong execution discipline
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, Finance, or related field
Advanced degree (MBA, MS) preferred
