Data Engineering Specialist, Sumaré/SP

Collaborate with innovative 3Mers around the world

As a Data Engineering Specialist you will play a key role for delivering reliable data engineering solutions and single source of truth (SSOT) architectures that improve visibility into key value streams such as Order to Cash, Market to Order, and Global Marketing & Sales Services, within Global Business Services Analytics & Insights. In this role you will be able to collaborate closely with key partners and global stakeholders to support a follow-the-sun delivery model across geographies.

The impact you will make in this role

  • Designing, implementing, and optimizing data pipelines and transformations to ensure efficiency, scalability, and sustained performance.

  • Executing quality checks, validations, and robust controls to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and integrity.

  • Performing performance tuning and query optimization across pipelines, models, and platforms to manage usage costs effectively.

  • Enabling conversational analytics capabilities, helping teams and stakeholders interact with data more intuitively through AI-assisted natural language query tools.

  • Partnering with cross-functional teams and IT to define, enhance, and scale single source of truth (SSOT) architectures.

  • Exploring and applying emerging technologies, including AI-driven automation, to continuously improve query and pipeline efficiency as well as data reliability.

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field

  • Experience in data engineering, data architecture, or similar role supporting reporting, automation, and data science use cases

  • Solid experience using SQL for data extraction, transformation, and validation as well as implementing query performance optimizations to manage or reduce usage costs

  • Experience working in modern data platforms (e.g. Snowflake, Databricks) and modern data stack tools (e.g., dbt, Airflow, or similar orchestration frameworks)

  • Advanced English level

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: 

  • Experience enabling conversational analytics or natural language query tools (e.g., AI/BI, Generative BI, or similar conversational data interfaces)

  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment using JIRA or similar tools

  • Awareness or hands-on experience with generative AI tools and AI-assisted development for data engineering, automation, and quality control (e.g., AI-driven code generation, anomaly detection, or data validation)

  • Exposure to DataOps or MLOps practices for continuous integration and deployment of data pipelines

  • Certifications such as Snowflake SnowPro Core/Advanced or Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate/Professional

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, execute projects, and meet deadlines in a global environment

  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality solutions on time and within scope working with global business processes, teams, and stakeholders across multiple regions and time zones

Work location

This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at 3M in Sumaré/SP
