Job Description:

We're looking for a Data Engineering Manager who loves to architect for complex data problems, develop data pipelines, and make quality data available at scale. This individual has experience leading data teams, with past experience as an engineer leading key initiatives around data warehousing and data engineering.

This is a hybrid role with office visits in Minneapolis, MN.

 
Summary: 
As a Data Engineering Manager, you will help plan and make suggestions around processes and technologies that will enhance Datasite’s data architecture, standards, and ELT/ETL processes. In this role you will lead your team and Datasite in its journey to continuously improve what the organization can do with its data. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities May Include 

  • Works with senior leadership and product to determine roadmap for new data initiatives, org-wide architecture standards that will deliver high quality data to both our customers and the org itself 
  • Translates business requirements from senior leadership into actionable technical requirements 
  • Puts forth and drives initiatives to harden data architecture and standards that will improve data quality and validity 
  • Drives discovery of new data sources and their integration into our platform 
  • Makes suggestions around solutions that will improve data observability throughout the organization 
  • Writes documentation for non-technical stakeholders 
  • Explores and recommends new tools and technologies to optimize the data platform 
  • Fully owns the team’s technical roadmap and manages a handful of direct reports

 

  Qualifications  

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent industry experience 
  • 6+ years of experience in Data Engineering or Data Architecture or a related role such as a Data Operations Engineer; must have expert proficiency with data warehouses, including architecture and lifecycle

  • Prior experience as a team lead or manager

  • Must have familiarity with column-based storage (Snowflake)
  • Exposure to non-relational data, data structures, and noSQL databases such as MongoDB
  • Must have led one or more major technical initiative, adoption, implementation, or migration related to data or a data tool (minimum 2 quarters of development time). 
  • Must have proficiency with several ELT/ETL tools 
  • Must have experience with Python
  • Some prior experience as a data modeler or in data governance a plus
  • Some exposure to a BI tool 
  • Must have experience accurately predicting scaling requirements and compute needs
  • Comfortable with the structure of a data lake and flows between data stored in a lake, warehouse, and AI/ML processes
