Engineering Manager - Regulatory Reporting Tech

The Regulatory Reporting Tech Team is at the center of a major initiative to modernize and scale our global regulatory reporting capabilities for EMEA, APAC, NA and LATAM. This is a unique opportunity to deliver mission-critical solutions that directly ensure the stability and compliance of our global operations.

As an Engineering Manager, you will manage a team of talented data engineers and analysts, guiding them in building a scalable and automated framework and data pipelines for meeting our complex global regulatory reporting requirements.

This is a highly strategic role where you'll balance technical oversight with people leadership, stakeholder- and project management, and long-term planning. You will work closely with a variety of stakeholders, including compliance, finance, other reporting teams, and product development teams.

What you’ll do

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with product, data engineers, data analysts, data platform engineers, backend and frontend engineers, and other key stakeholders within Adyen.
• Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary point of contact for technical initiatives within the Regulatory Reporting. Partner with product, tech, and other key stakeholders to align on priorities and outcomes for critical reporting features.
• Product Strategy: Alongside your product peer, craft a long-term vision for the team's product that pragmatically balances trade-offs and aligns with the overarching company vision.
• Goal Setting: Establish clear individual and team objectives that harmonize with Adyen's strategic data and engineering ambitions
• Team Motivation and Coaching: Have a multiplier effect (on your team and beyond) by finding alignment between team and individual growth goals and coaching.
• Team Environment: Cultivate a team environment characterized by open communication and constructive feedback, collaboration, autonomy, ownership, accountability, and measurable impact.
• Identify and Grow Talent: Nurture the growth of your team by hiring thoughtfully and coaching constructively.

Who you are

• Experienced Leader: You have at least 2 years of experience directly managing data teams and 5+ years of experience in data roles, preferably within the payments, pricing, billing, or financial technology sector in a high-scale, tech-driven environment.
• Leadership and Mentoring: Proven experience in hiring, mentoring, coaching, and developing top engineering talent and teams. Ability to provide honest, direct, and actionable feedback followed by relevant coaching and guidance.
• Strategic Thinking: Proven track record of collaborating with senior leadership and product peers to shape strategic direction, including product roadmaps.
• Communication and Team Player: Exceptional communicator who can clearly explain complex technical concepts to non-engineers, foster a culture of collaboration, and exhibit robust management skills and technical acumen.
• Stakeholder-Savvy: You have a proven ability to align diverse stakeholder needs, set clear priorities, and communicate technical trade-offs effectively.
• Execution: You bring a pragmatic mindset to delivery, balancing speed with quality and impact in a critical financial domain.
• Experience in Big Data: Proven track record of 5+ years in a hands-on data (engineering) role. Previous experience with financial and/or regulatory reporting and reconciliation products is a plus.
• Technical Proficiency:  Fluent in tools like: Python, PySpark, Airflow, Delta lake, Hadoop, Kafka, SQL, Git.
