As a Data Engineer at Second Foundation, you’ll be a crucial part of a team focused on designing, implementing, and maintaining reliable data pipelines that gather and deliver data from multiple sources. You’ll apply your data processing skills while having the opportunity to explore the power markets sector, ensuring timely, high-quality data to support our trading and analysis initiatives.
What you would work on:
- Cooperate in designing and developing reliable data pipelines to collect, process, and deliver data from multiple sources.
- Work with data science teams to understand their data needs and help develop solutions to meet those needs.
- Learn to build and maintain ETL and ELT workflows that extract, transform, and load data, ensuring it is processed accurately.
- Participate in performance tuning and optimization of data workflows to meet our reliability standards.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in data engineering.
What makes you a great candidate:
- You reached a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, or a related field.
- You're interested in working with data, understanding its meaning and ensuring data quality and reliability.
- You have solid programming skills in pure Python and experience with data oriented programming using at least one library like: Numpy, Pandas, PyArrow, Polars, PyTorch, TensorFlow etc.
- You have solid understanding of ETL, ELT and data lake concepts, and data warehousing patterns such as dimensional modeling, star/snowflake schemas, and slowly changing dimensions.
- You have strong SQL skills with experience optimizing performance of relational database queries
- You have at least basic understanding of the trade-offs between different data storage formats and technologies. Experience with frameworks like Dagster or Spark for building scalable data pipelines is a plus.
- You’re dedicated to developing your skills in data engineering and excited about growth opportunities.
