Job Description

At Konecranes, we’re on a mission to turn data into a strategic advantage. Our IT organization’s Data to Knowledge unit plays a key role in this transformation—advancing analytics and data science, data quality and governance to unlock smarter decisions across the business. 

We’re looking for a forward-thinking Data Engineer to help us push boundaries in data platform development, reporting, and analytics. In this role, you’ll be part of a team that accelerates Konecranes’ data-driven journey and makes real impact. 

This hybrid role is based at our headquarters in Hyvinkää, Finland.

Your key responsibilities 

As a Data Engineer your primary responsibility is to maintain, troubleshoot and develop solutions in our data platform. You’ll take ownership of complex data exploration requirements by designing and implementing innovative solutions in a collaborative, agile environment. The solutions will range from technology prototypes/demos, reusable data sets, and optimized queries to fully automated data.

You will design and build high performance throughput data ingestion and analytics data pipelines. You’ll document your work clearly and create technical designs and specifications. As part of the data engineering team, you will work closely with other data engineers as well as Platform team and other stakeholders to identify the issues in deployed processes, helping to fix problems and make reliable amendments to make the processes/code work efficiently.

    Qualifications

    What you should bring  

    To succeed in this role, you have a university degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar, and a solid track record of developing and deploying robust production grade ETL solutions. You are an expert in database design and SQL programming and strive to create innovative and breakthrough solutions. 

    You have a passion to learn and work with various technologies. You are open to challenging even your own experience and starting fresh when the situation demands it. 

    You have 7+ years of industry experience as a software engineer, in data and analytics development.   

    Qualifications 

    • Proven ability in designing and developing production-level software 
    • Solid understanding of databases (SQL Server, Oracle) and SQL scripting skills 
    • Proficiency in Python and Java programming 
    • Experience with distributed compute and storage technologies (Databricks, Azure Datalake Storage) to design ETL pipelines 
    • Hands-on expertise with continuous integration and deployment tools (CI/CD) 
    • Strong communication skills, attention to detail for documenting and reviewing technical designs 
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
