About the role 
 

We’re seeking a Data Engineer to play a key role in the ongoing development and operation of the Transurban Enterprise data platform.

Join our innovative team in a hands-on Data Engineering role that encompasses a variety of functions, including data solution architecture and development, data profiling, acquisition and preparation, platform performance optimization, and incident troubleshooting and problem management.

Day-to-day, you will: 
 

• Provide incident and problem resolution for the data platform and seek to continuously improve the performance of the data platform

• Design, implement and maintain ETL processes

• Develop and maintain accurate and optimal detailed design / specifications

• Design solutions for increased automation, continuous integration, testability, simplicity, scalability, predictability, efficiency, security and maintainability  

• Work with analytics function to ensure that the platform is providing the required data and the required performance.

• Continuously design, develop, and test data-driven solutions

• Design, agree and implement ingestion programs for the various ingestion sources

• Bring required source datasets into the enterprise data platform

• Perform code reviews, ensuring quality and efficiency

• Contribute to technical discussions and reviews

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including: 
 

• Commercial experience working as a Data Engineer within a large complex, data focused environment

• Experience in transforming and manipulating large and complex datasets

• Experience deploying and managing data and data warehouse solutions

• Strong engineering experience in SQL, Python and ETL workflows to extract, transform, and load data into Snowflake

• Proficiency in AWS environments with hands-on expertise

• Desirable experience with Redshift

• Ability to understand business needs and interpret business rules into technical solutions

• Be a self-starter, who can work autonomously and work collaboratively

• Ability to solve complex problems, think laterally and challenge ideas

• Great communication and interpersonal skills – ability to interact with a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels
