Data Engineer

Job Description

For our Leidschendam office we are looking for a Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Data Engineer, you will design, build and maintain the infrastructure that supports the collection, processing and storage of data.

This Role resides within Fugro’s dedicated Data Operations team and is critical to our organization’s ability to leverage data as a strategic asset. In our team, we deliver practical insights into business data by collecting data from different data sources, combining and modelling this data into meaningful facts and metrics, and presenting them in visually attractive dashboards which provide insight.

Your role

• You are responsible for designing and implementing data storage solutions that meet the needs of the organization and ensure the accuracy, reliability and scalability of data collection;

• You are responsible for integrating and connecting data sources throughout the organization, ensuring the seamless flow of data between different systems and platforms;

• You create functional documentation, configuration manuals and support manuals;

• You are aware of security implications of configurations and customizations and you advice IT management on taking security measures;

• You troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis and provide short-term and long-term solutions;

• You collaborate with various stakeholders across the organization, including Data Scientists, Data analysts, IT Governance specialists, Application teams and Business Analysts to understand the data needs and develop solutions that enable users to access and use data in a way that supports their business objectives.

Your track record

• You have at least a BSc degree in computer science, software engineering, data science or a related field;

• You have at least 4 years of relevant experience in the field Data Engineering. You can demonstrate experience with data modelling, setting up ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and have familiarity with database design concepts;

• You have experience with Microsoft Azure Cloud technologies and know several relevant Programming Languages such as SQL, Python and R;

• Microsoft Certifications such as Azure Data Engineer (DP-203) and or Azure Solutions Architect (AZ-305) are seen as a plus;

• You can identify any data security, governance and privacy related issues and have excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills;

• You have strong communication skills, are proficient in the English language, both written and oral;

• You can understand high level business processes and requirements, translate these into solutions and designs and explain these to both technical and non-technical audiences.
