JOB PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Data & Analytics Director for Continent Europe and Great Britain, the Data Engineer will play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from a wide variety of data sources. He/She will be responsible for developing and optimizing data pipelines, ensuring data integrity, and enabling data accessibility for analytical and operational purposes. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a passion for leveraging data to drive business decisions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Design and Development:


  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to support business needs.
  • Develop data integration solutions to combine data from various sources, including on-premises databases and cloud-based platforms.

  • Implement and manage data storage solutions (e.g., data warehouses, data lakes) to ensure efficient data retrieval and storage.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and security by implementing robust data governance practices.

  • Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet their needs.
  • Provide support for data-related technical issues and assist in troubleshooting data-related problems.

  • Optimize data processing workflows to improve performance and reduce costs.
  • Implement and manage data monitoring solutions to ensure data pipeline reliability and efficiency.

  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in data engineering and data management.
  • Propose and implement new tools and technologies to enhance data engineering capabilities.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Strong experience with SQL and database management (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
  • Experience with ETL tools and frameworks (e.g., Apache Airflow, Talend).
  • Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.


PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with data warehousing solutions such as Snowflake or Redshift or Synpase.
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Understanding of machine learning and data science concepts.
  • Experience in the food industry or a related field.
