The Role
Build and maintain ETL pipelines supporting an SAP ECC6-to-S/4HANA migration. Responsibilities include data extraction, transformation, loading, quality validation, reconciliation, rejection handling, documentation, and continuous delivery improvement. The role collaborates closely with technical and functional stakeholders within an agile data migration squad and works with large, complex datasets.
Summary Generated by Built In
Location: Bucharest, Romania

This role is part of a large-scale SAP ECC6 to S/4HANA migration program for a major international organization. As a core member of a dedicated Data Migration Squad, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the transformation and loading pipelines that sit at the heart of the migration

delivery.

You will work closely with the Technical Lead and your fellow data engineers to ensure that data flows reliably, accurately, and on time from the source ECC6 environment to the target S/4HANA platform.

WHO ARE YOU?

You have solid hands-on experience designing and building ETL pipelines in complex data environments?

You are comfortable working with large volumes of heterogeneous data, and you know how to handle edge cases, rejections, and transformation complexity?

You are rigorous and detail-oriented — you care about the quality of what you deliver, not just whether it runs?

You enjoy working in a team, sharing knowledge, and improving practices collectively?

You are curious about SAP data landscapes, or already have some exposure to them?

Then this role is made for you.

WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

You will join a dedicated squad of 4 data professionals, embedded within a broader SAP program team.

You will work in close collaboration with the Technical Lead and contribute to the delivery of migration pipelines across all in-scope data objects, in an agile delivery mode with iterative development and

regular validation cycles.

By joining us, you will play a hands-on role in one of the most technically challenging phases of a major international transformation program.

Your mission will include:

• Designing, developing, and maintaining ETL pipelines for data extraction, transformation, and loading

• Implementing transformation rules based on mapping specifications defined with the Technical Lead

• Participating in data quality checks, reconciliation processes, and error handling

• Documenting pipeline logic, transformation rules, and technical decisions

• Contributing to the continuous improvement of delivery practices within the squad

WHAT YOU BRING

Senior Data Engineer

• 2–4 years of experience in data engineering or ETL-focused roles

• Comfortable implementing pipelines based on defined specifications

• Eager to grow in a structured migration context

ETL & Data Engineering

• Solid hands-on experience with at least one ETL platform (Talend, Informatica, SSIS, or equivalent)

• Strong understanding of data transformation patterns and pipeline design

• Experience working with large and complex datasets

• Familiarity with data quality concepts — validation rules, rejection handling, reconciliation

Soft Skills

• Rigorous and detail-oriented approach to delivery

• Ability to work collaboratively in a small, fast-moving team

• Good communication skills — able to discuss technical topics with both engineers and functional stakeholders

NICE TO HAVE

Exposure to SAP data structures or SAP migration projects

Familiarity with SAP migration tools (BODS, Syniti/SNP, or equivalent)

Experience working in an agile delivery environment

Knowledge of cloud-based data platforms (Azure, GCP, AWS)
