About the Role

Delineate has developed unique software that collects each day and every day from real consumers, enabling our clients to access high-quality insights into their brands and advertising campaigns. Our platform is built on modern, cloud-only technology, with a strong focus on innovation, automation and scalability.

We are looking for a Data Engineer to take ownership of the pipelines that turn raw survey and market data into the insight our clients rely on. Our data platform runs on Microsoft Fabric and Azure, and you will work across the whole flow, from ingestion and transformation through to the dashboards clients actually see. It suits someone who enjoys breadth and wants visibility over the full lifecycle.

This is a hands-on role in a small and growing team, and your work will be in front of clients quickly. As we bring more development in-house there is scope to shape the platform rather than simply keep it running.

You will report to our Lead Software Engineer, within an internationally based team, working closely with our research, client, software and infrastructure colleagues.

How We Work

We work in small increments, and we rely on people being straight with one another. That means asking questions and establishing a clear understanding of a problem before committing to an approach, rather than thrashing on unclear requirements. It means reporting progress honestly, including when the news is not good. And it means treating review as a conversation – taking feedback well, while pushing back with clear reasoning where you believe you are right.

Priorities here move as client and business needs evolve, so you will be balancing planned development work against operational support, troubleshooting and ad-hoc requests. We work to an Agile delivery model – sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand-ups, reviews and retrospectives – and we expect people to prioritise sensibly across competing demands, decide pragmatically when speed matters, and switch between projects, client requests and data investigations without losing momentum.

Role Responsibilities

• Maintain, extend and troubleshoot data pipelines in Microsoft Fabric, including changes to existing pipelines and Python notebooks.

• Build and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports for internal and client-facing use.

• Write and optimise SQL against our Azure SQL estate, covering transformations, data quality checks and performance tuning.

• Investigate and resolve pipeline failures, and improve the resilience and observability of what we run.

• Document how things work, to avoid single points of knowledge.

• Work directly with our research and client teams to understand what the data needs to answer.

• Communicate progress, risks and blockers clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

• Make practical use of AI where it genuinely adds value, in our data products and your own workflow.

Skills and Experience

Essential

• Microsoft Fabric – building and modifying data pipelines and Python notebooks.

• Power BI – building dashboards from scratch, data modelling and DAX.

• Microsoft SQL Server / Azure SQL – optimising non-trivial queries.

• Excellent debugging and diagnostic ability, working from logs and telemetry through to root cause.

• Comfortable working independently on ambiguous problems, through to a documented fix.

• Experience of Agile delivery, with strong prioritisation across parallel workstreams.

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

• Genuine enthusiasm for technology and for AI, with an active interest in how things work.

Desirable

• Azure Cosmos DB – data modelling and querying.

• Azure AI Foundry – building or deploying AI-enabled workflows.

• Experience of data science or statistical analysis.
