Join Primark’s Data Platform & Engineering team as a Data Engineer, helping to build and support our enterprise data platform on Databricks. You will develop and enhance data pipelines that power reporting, analytics, AI and data science. Working with cross-functional teams, you will deliver trusted and scalable data products. What you'll do
Data Engineering Delivery: Design, build and enhance scalable data pipelines and transformation processes using Databricks, PySpark, SQL and dbt Cloud to deliver trusted, business-ready data products.
Data Modelling & Integration: Develop and support ETL/ELT solutions, data models and reusable datasets that integrate data from multiple enterprise systems and support reporting, analytics and AI use cases.
Data Platform Operations: Monitor, maintain and optimise production data pipelines to ensure reliability, performance and operational efficiency across the data platform.
Data Quality & Governance: Implement and promote data quality controls, testing, lineage and documentation practices that improve data accuracy, transparency and compliance with governance standards.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with Data Engineers, Analytics teams, Data Scientists and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver data solutions that create measurable business value.
Platform Modernisation: Support and contribute to the migration from Teradata to Databricks, helping to modernise legacy data assets, tooling and engineering practices.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Drive and champion automation, emerging technologies and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the scalability, efficiency and maturity of the data engineering lifecycle.
What you'll bring
Data Engineering Experience (2-5 Years): Proven experience developing and maintaining data pipelines using SQL, Python and modern data engineering practices within enterprise-scale environments.
Data Modelling & Transformation: Experience working with dbt Cloud, dbt Core or similar transformation frameworks, with a strong understanding of data modelling and transformation techniques.
Cloud & Modern Data Platforms: Exposure to Databricks, Spark, Azure data services or other cloud-based analytics platforms, including lakehouse and distributed data processing technologies.
Data Integration & Database Expertise: Strong understanding of ETL/ELT concepts, relational databases and the management of large-scale datasets from multiple data sources.
Data Quality & Engineering Standards: Knowledge of data quality, testing, operational support processes, software development lifecycles and version control best practices to deliver reliable and maintainable solutions.
Problem Solving & Commercial Awareness: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an understanding of how data solutions support business processes, decision-making and organisational objectives.
Collaboration, Learning & Continuous Improvement: Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams, build strong stakeholder relationships and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning, innovation and process improvement.

Skills Required
