About This Job
This is an exciting opportunity to join Axos as a Data Engineer, where you will play a key role in designing, developing, and supporting enterprise-scale data solutions. In this role, you will collaborate with both technical and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable, high-performance data platforms and database solutions. The ideal candidate combines strong SQL Server development expertise with hands-on experience in ETL/ELT processes, data analysis, and database optimization. This position offers the opportunity to work with modern data technologies, support critical business operations, and contribute to the ongoing evolution of the organization's data ecosystem.Responsibilities:
- Partner with business and technical teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Design, develop, and maintain complex SQL Server stored procedures, functions, tables, and database objects.
- Optimize database performance through query tuning, index management, and table optimization.
- Review database code developed by peers to ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and performance requirements.
- Develop and support SSIS packages for data transformation, cleansing, aggregation, staging, and data movement.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database performance, replication, and operational issues.
- Perform data analysis, profiling, and validation to support application development and design decisions.
- Define data flow requirements and prepare supporting technical documentation and operational procedures.
- Support production data loads, refresh processes, and ongoing database maintenance activities.
- Develop and execute unit testing and data validation processes to ensure data integrity and quality.
- Maintain reusable development standards and frameworks to support current and future business needs.
- Implement enhancements, bug fixes, and continuous improvements across data platforms and processes.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience working with relational databases in a production environment.
- 3+ years of Microsoft SQL Server design and development experience.
- 2+ years of experience developing and supporting SSIS packages, and working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
- 1+ year of C# scripting or development experience.
- Experience with Databricks, including Spark, PySpark, and Databricks SQL.
- Familiarity with Databricks notebooks, workflows, jobs, and orchestration capabilities.
- Experience using Git and GitHub, including branching strategies, pull requests, and version control best practices.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment frameworks.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar DevOps tools.
- Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies and release management best practices.
- Experience building and maintaining reliable ETL/ELT data processes.
- Knowledge of data profiling, data mining, analytics, and data quality best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet delivery commitments in a fast-paced environment.
