Job Title: Data Engineer

Location: Madrid

Employment Type: Permanent, full time (Hybrid role)

The job

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join our Data Science & AI team at AVEVA. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and architectures that enable advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI agent development. 

You will work closely with data scientists, AI engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure data is reliable, accessible, and optimized for both analytics and operational use cases. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines 
  • Build and manage data architectures and data models 
  • Ensure data quality, governance, and security standards 
  • Collaborate with Data Scientists and AI Engineers 
  • Optimize data processing for performance and cost-efficiency 
  • Integrate multiple data sources 
  • Develop workflows using Microsoft tools (Power Automate, Logic Apps, Azure Data Factory) 
  • Design end-to-end solutions within Microsoft ecosystem 
  • Implement best practices for data engineering and version control 
  • Support AI agents and automation workflows 

Essential Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering 
  • Strong Python and SQL skills 
  • Experience with Spark/Databricks 
  • Experience in ETL/ELT pipelines 
  • Strong Azure experience 
  • Databricks Unity Catalog experience (governance, access control) 
  • Experience with Power Automate or similar tools 
  • Strong data modeling and warehousing knowledge 
  • Git and CI/CD experience 

Desirable: 

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Data, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field. 
  • Experience with Lakehouse architecture 
  • MLOps familiarity 
  • Strong Unity Catalog governance practices 
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks 
  • Experience with streaming technologies 
  • Exposure to AI/GenAI or agent-based systems 
  • Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power BI)
