Do you want to help build the next-generation data platform at one of the Nordic region’s leading e-commerce companies?
Ellos Group is in the middle of a major data and platform transformation and is now looking for a Senior Data Engineer who wants to play a key role in the transition from a traditional on-premises data warehouse to a modern, cloud-based data platform built on Azure and Microsoft Fabric.
We look forward to receiving your application!
YOUR ROLEAs a Data Engineer, you will become a key member of the Data & Analytics team within Ellos IT. You will work closely with our Senior BI Developer, who also serves as Product Owner for BI, and together you will drive the technical direction of the data platform. This is a hands-on role with significant influence over architecture, technology choices and ways of working.
You will work at the intersection of traditional data warehousing and modern event-driven architectures, where microservices, Kafka and streaming data come together with established data models and business logic. You will collaborate closely with the business, BI, Data Science and other development teams, building solutions that support business-critical operations.
In this role, you will:
Build, further develop and optimise Ellos Group’s new data platform in Azure and Microsoft Fabric, with a strong focus on performance tuning, cost efficiency and operational stability.
Design and develop data pipelines for both real-time and batch processing, working with data sources such as Kafka, internal microservices, Microsoft SQL Server and Google Analytics.
Drive the migration from an established on-premises data warehouse to a modern cloud-based platform, ensuring that existing functionality is recreated, improved and future-proofed.
Work closely with BI developers, Data Scientists and Product Owners to ensure high data quality, well-defined business concepts and data models that support both analytics and business-critical processes.
Your day will often begin with a team stand-up, followed by development work, technical discussions, backlog refinement or workshops. We work in an agile and collaborative way, whether you are working from the office or remotely.
WHO YOU AREYou are a highly experienced Data Engineer with strong technical confidence and a broad understanding of modern data platforms. You enjoy taking responsibility, making architectural and technical decisions and remaining hands-on in designing, building, optimising and maintaining production solutions. You have extensive experience of cloud-based data platforms and are comfortable working in complex environments with large data volumes, demanding performance requirements and business-critical workloads.
You have a solid understanding of dimensional modelling, traditional data warehousing and Kimball principles, together with a strong focus on data quality, consistency and structure. Working with streaming and real-time data comes naturally to you, and you have a good understanding of Kafka-based architectures, event-driven systems and microservices, including the challenges of scalability and cost-efficient cloud operations.
You have a clear view of how a modern lakehouse architecture should be designed, maintained and developed over time. You have worked hands-on with a range of platforms and technologies, both open source and commercial, in on-premises and cloud environments, giving you a solid understanding of their respective strengths and limitations. Your background may include technologies such as Databricks and Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg, Hadoop/Hortonworks, Snowflake, Google BigQuery, Azure Synapse Analytics, Cloudera or AWS Lakehouse, and you use that experience to make well-informed architectural and technology decisions.
As a person, you are self-driven, analytical and collaborative. You enjoy sharing your knowledge and acting as a technical sounding board for both colleagues and business stakeholders. You are curious, solution-oriented and motivated by building sustainable, long-term data solutions that create real value for the business.
To succeed in this role, you need to be fluent in both spoken and written Swedish. You hold a university degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field, or have equivalent professional experience.
