SIXT's central Business Intelligence team builds and maintains the SIXT Data Platform and its Data Catalogue, serving thousands of users globally. Our flagship product, the SIXT Data Shop, ingests tens of millions of events daily, processes them to meet diverse consumer needs, and delivers insights through a comprehensive toolbox — from self-service batch processes to real-time ML model endpoints. YOUR ROLE AT SIXT

• You drive innovation by exploring and implementing the latest AWS and big data technologies to uncover hidden opportunities, enable new capabilities, and build integrations for the SIXT Data Shop
• You collaborate cross-functionally with Data Engineers, BI Analysts, and Data Scientists to architect optimal solutions for diverse analytical use cases, including dashboarding, ad hoc analytics, data-as-a-product, and machine learning
• You shape the Data Platform vision and roadmap by contributing your expertise, innovative ideas, and intellectual curiosity
• You ensure data integrity by applying exceptional work ethics when handling sensitive customer data, maintaining the highest standards of data protection

YOUR SKILLS MATTER

• Education & Experience You hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field and bring at least 3 years of professional experience as a Data Engineer with a strong focus on data modelling
• Data Modelling You have proven experience designing scalable data models (dimensional modelling, star/snowflake schemas, Kimball-style methodologies) and building end-to-end automation from source systems to analytical dashboards using ELT methodologies
• Cloud Data Warehousing You bring hands-on expertise with Amazon Redshift, data transformation using dbt (models, tests, macros, documentation), and orchestrating interdependent workflows with Apache Airflow
• AWS Data Stack You have solid experience with the broader AWS data ecosystem (e.g., S3, Glue, Lambda, IAM) supporting ingestion, storage, and transformation pipelines feeding into Redshift
• AI Proficiency You have hands-on experience with AI coding assistants and agentic workflow automation, and ideally a solid understanding of RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) systems and how to leverage LLMs with contextual data
• Engineering Excellence You apply strong engineering best practices across the full development lifecycle — including agile methodologies, code reviews, GitHub, CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins), and testing — with advanced proficiency in Python and SQL and a deep understanding of distributed systems and data storage/compute principles
