About the Role
The Kuala Lumpur office is the tech hub of MoneyLion, where we move fast and innovate constantly. We're looking for a Data Engineer Intern who’s excited about working with data and building scalable solutions. This internship will be 6 months long, starting in June 2026 to December 2026. Kindly note that this internship is only open to Malaysians, with final year students preferred.
Our Data Engineering team is creating a powerful data platform to help teams across MoneyLion build better products and experiences. We're using modern tools like Apache Iceberg to build an open, efficient, and connected infrastructure. As an intern, you’ll work with cloud technologies, help build and maintain data pipelines, and support projects in machine learning, analytics, and product development. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in building and maintaining scalable data pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, and delivery.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to deliver high-quality datasets.
- Help maintain data platforms and support data governance efforts by managing data access.
- Contribute to documentation and best practices for data engineering workflows.
- Learn and work with tools like Apache Airflow, Spark, AWS and SQL/NoSQL databases
About You
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python and SQL.
- Understanding of database concepts, ETL pipelines and foundational data engineering principles.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (preferably AWS), distributed computing (e.g. Spark) or orchestration (e.g. Airflow) is a plus.
- Has a deep sense of ownership towards professional development, day-to-day responsibilities, and self-learning.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively.
- Eager to learn quickly, stay curious, and adapt to new technologies with enthusiasm.
