The Role
About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Hive, Spark, and Python to join our growing data engineering team. The role involves designing and building scalable, high-performance data pipelines and working closely with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver reliable, business-impacting data solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) following industry best practices
  • Perform data ingestion, transformation, and processing using Hive, Spark, and Python
  • Translate business requirements into robust technical solutions by collaborating with product owners, analysts, and other stakeholders
  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding, security, and data quality standards
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production data pipeline issues within defined SLAs
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by adopting new tools, frameworks, and best practices
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members, as required
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • 6–8 years of hands-on experience in Data Engineering or related fields
  • Strong experience working with large-scale, distributed data systems
  • Proven ability to deliver end-to-end data solutions in cloud-based environments
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery models
Technical Skills

Must Have:

  • Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, GCS, Dataflow or equivalent GCP services)
  • Apache Spark
  • Hive
  • Python
  • Data Pipelines, ETL / ELT frameworks

Good to Have:

  • Understanding of distributed systems and cloud-native architectures
  • Experience with version control and collaboration tools such as Git
  • Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence
Education
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline
