About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to support one of our clients in evolving how internal employee engagement is measured and understood. Traditionally, internal communications rely on open rates and basic engagement metrics. This initiative aims to introduce a more scientific, data-driven approach to understanding how employees interact with internal communications and content.
In this role, you will help transform fragmented communication signals into a unified analytics layer that provides visibility into how information flows across the organization. By integrating data from platforms such as Slack, internal email campaigns, video communications, and intranet tools, you will help build a holistic view of the employee communication journey.
Your work will enable leadership teams to identify communication gaps, optimize internal messaging strategies, and improve how information reaches employees across the company.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and maintain data pipelines that integrate communication and engagement data from multiple platforms including Slack, internal email tools, and intranet systems.
• Implement and manage analytics instrumentation using Google Analytics 4 (GA4), including events, parameters, custom dimensions, and explorations.
• Develop complex SQL queries to join and normalize datasets across different communication and engagement systems.
• Build advanced dashboards and analytical models using Looker Studio or Tableau to visualize employee engagement and communication flows.
• Translate complex datasets into clear insights and narratives that can be understood by non-technical stakeholders and executive leadership.
• Identify patterns and behavioral signals that explain why engagement trends occur and propose data-driven improvements.
• Ensure proper analytics implementation through tagging standards, UTM governance, and QA validation across communication channels such as landing pages and newsletters.
• Partner with communications, product, and analytics teams to refine metrics and continuously improve the measurement framework for internal engagement.
Required Qualifications
• 6+ years of professional experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or advanced analytics roles.
• Expert-level experience with Google Analytics 4 (GA4), including events, parameters, explorations, and custom dimensions.
• Strong SQL skills with experience joining and transforming datasets from multiple sources.
• Advanced experience building dashboards and data models in Looker Studio or Tableau.
• Proven ability to transform analytical findings into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience working in digital analytics, product analytics, or marketing analytics environments.
• Strong understanding of analytics instrumentation, tagging strategies, and UTM governance.
• Experience validating analytics implementations and ensuring accurate event tracking across digital properties.
Nice to Have
• Experience using Python for advanced data analysis, automation, or data transformation workflows.
• Familiarity with employee communication platforms such as Poppulo, LumApps, or similar internal communications tools.
• Experience combining behavioral analytics data (clicks, engagement metrics) with survey or sentiment data such as eNPS or internal employee surveys.
