Over 85,000 venues exist in the hospitality space alone and are struggling to manage, record and report on their data. Doshii is a marketplace that endeavors to fix this problem by connecting all of these disparate systems.
Role Overview
Doshii is seeking a skilled Data Engineer to play a pivotal role in shaping our Data and AI strategy. In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the Doshii Data Platform, including the Data Lake and Data Warehouse, leveraging cutting-edge technologies, including AI technology, to optimise our data assets and enhance product capabilities. Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer, we are looking for a proactive and dynamic individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, balancing the innovation of a startup with the operational efficiency of a corporate setting
Key Responsibilities

Design and implement data integrations between the transactional databases and external sources into the centralised data platform.

Implement data validation, cleansing, and transformation processes to ensure high data quality, accuracy, and consistency.

Monitor and improve the performance, scalability, and reliability of data systems, ensuring minimal downtime and latency.

Automate repetitive data tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.

Work closely with the product squads and business stakeholders to meet data requirements.

Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of data architectures, pipelines, and workflows

Ensure that all data practices comply with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements, safeguarding sensitive (PII) information.
Experience
The ideal candidate will bring the following qualifications and expertise:

4+ years of experience as a Data Engineer with a proven ability to design and implement robust data pipelines and transformations.

This is a hands-on role requiring someone eager to actively drive the development and maintenance of the Doshii Data Platform.

Proven expertise with AWS data services and technologies, including Redshift, Glue S3, Lambda, RDS, Kinesis Data Streams, SNS, and SQS.

A solid understanding of building transformations using Apache Spark and SQL, Data warehouse schemas.

A strong understanding of security and governance protocols to ensure the protection of sensitive data.

Experience working in both corporate and startup environments, with the ability to adapt to different organisational structures and cultures.

The capability to collaborate effectively with Developers, Product Managers, and Business Stakeholders to understand requirements and enable the Data Platform to support product needs.

A solid grasp of emerging AI technologies and how to integrate them within the Data Platform.

Experience and enthusiasm for working with data in the Australian hospitality industry.
