Job DescriptionWe are seeking a technically skilled and service-oriented Data Engineer to coordinate the development and operation of a global Business Intelligence platform. This role plays a pivotal part in aligning cross-functional teams, bridging the gap between business requirements and technical implementation, and ensuring seamless collaboration between central platform teams and self-service teams embedded in business units.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in cloud technologies, agile project management, incident management, and enterprise governance. Success in this role requires the ability to structure and define work packages, manage stakeholder expectations, and drive process optimization within a complex enterprise ecosystem. The candidate is well-versed in agile and traditional project methodologies, demonstrates strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills, and holds a relevant technical degree with optional certifications in project and agile frameworks.
Platform Context
This position is part of the international Common Data Intelligence Hub, which operates a centralized Cloud Data & Analytics Platform. The platform integrates:
- Azure Lakehouse technologies: Data Factory, Databricks, Data Build Tool (dbt)
- Microsoft Power Platform services: Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint Online
It provides a standardized and governed framework that enables business units to independently build and operate their analytics and reporting solutions. These self-service teams work within a clearly defined collaboration model, coordinated by the central platform team, ensuring alignment on architecture, governance, and operational standards.
The platform supports approximately 10,000 global users across key business domains such as Sales, Finance, Human Resources, and Delivery, while maintaining compliance with enterprise-grade security, governance, and data management requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a proxy-product owner for the platform, translating business needs into structured work packages and actionable tasks for platform teams.
- Ensure that requirements are clearly documented, work packages are well-defined, and related tasks are implemented with quality and delivered on time.
- Coordinate across platform layers and teams to align priorities, manage dependencies, and maintain technical and strategic coherence.
- Facilitate communication between stakeholders to ensure transparency, alignment, and shared understanding of goals and progress.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies, proposing enhancements, and supporting the evolution of platform processes and tools.
- Monitor task execution, proactively remove impediments, and ensure smooth delivery across all phases of implementation.
Cloud Technologies
- Hands-on experience with Azure services including Data Factory, Databricks, and Data Build Tool (dbt).
- Proficient in Power BI Service and Power BI Desktop, including workspace configuration, dataset refreshes, and gateway management.
- Familiarity with Power Apps and Power Automate for business process automation within a governed environment.
Agile Project Management
- Experienced in agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe.
- Skilled in using project management tools like Jira, Confluence, and ServiceNow.
- Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and manage project timelines and deliverables.
Incident Management
- Practical experience in diagnosing, documenting, and resolving platform issues in collaboration with engineering teams.
- Ability to manage incidents proactively, ensuring minimal disruption and timely resolution.
- Strong communication skills for reporting and stakeholder updates during incident handling.
Enterprise Governance
- Understanding of Azure governance, identity, and security principles including RBAC and service principals.
- Experience in implementing and maintaining compliance with enterprise-grade data management standards.
- Ability to coach internal teams on governance frameworks and self-service BI best practices.
