Overview

You will help design, build, and modernize mission critical systems that power Deutsche Bank’s core business operations. You work hands on with enterprise mainframe platforms while partnering with business and technology teams to keep applications stable, secure, and evolving. You play a key role in strengthening reliability today while supporting long term modernization and migration initiatives. What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain core mainframe applications, across both batch and online processing, that support critical business functions and ensure reliable daily operations
  • Analyze and resolve production issues quickly and safely, collaborating with support and infrastructure teams while enhancing performance, stability, and data integrity across enterprise databases
  • Lead and support modernization and migration initiatives that evolve legacy systems toward scalable, future‑ready architecture and improve long‑term resiliency
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand functional requirements, translate them into scalable engineering solutions, and act as a subject-matter expert across payments, settlements, and core banking workflows
  • Provide business-facing support by answering functional process queries, interpreting transaction flows, and extracting required data from application databases for analysis or troubleshooting
  • Partner with internal compliance and external audit teams to supply required evidentiary artifacts, documentation, and system insights, ensuring solutions meet regulatory and control standards

Skills You’ll Need

  • Hands on experience developing and supporting applications on IBM z/OS environments
  • Strong proficiency with COBOL and enterprise batch and transaction processing
  • Experience working with mainframe databases and data structure
  • Ability to troubleshoot production issues and deliver clear, well documented solutions
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working in collaborative, cross functional team
  • Ability to communicate complex technical topics in business-friendly language as well as experience analyzing business workflows and understanding financial domain logic.

Expectations

It is the Bank’s expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the Cary office in accordance with the Bank’s hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in Cary is $100,000 to $153,000.  Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications.  Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of remuneration.
