We're looking for a Data Conversion Specialist to join our Data Services team. You'll own the move of each new customer's data from their previous system into Curve, working directly with the practice and our Implementation team from kickoff through go-live.
This is a hands-on technical role where you'll extract, map, clean, transform, and load real-world dental data, and help customers understand what to expect at every step.
We move quickly, collaborate closely, and take ownership. Whether you're untangling an unfamiliar legacy database, walking a customer through a data review, or troubleshooting an issue after go-live, you'll be expected to jump in and see it through.
This is an opportunity to shape a new customer's first experience with Curve, and to make sure no patient's history gets left behind.
As a Data Conversion Specialist, you'll work alongside our Data Services, Implementation, and Customer Support teams to bring each new customer's data into Curve accurately and on time.
You'll own each conversion from start to finish.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Owning each customer conversion end to end. You’ll work closely with the implementation team to scope the project, build the plan, communicate the timeline, own the deliverable, check the accuracy and completeness.
- Ensuring the customer has clear expectations on the process and timeline. While this information is primarily delivered by the Implementation team, you are not afraid to jump on the occasional customer call.
- Extracting data from customers' legacy practice management systems, then profiling and assessing it to understand what needs to move and how
- Building field mappings and test plans, and securing customer approval before conversion
- Cleaning and transforming data using SQL, Excel, and conversion tools, then loading it into Curve and verifying it against the source
- Following quality assurance processes before and after release to production, and moving converted instances into production
- Diagnosing and resolving data issues during and after conversion
- Documenting mapping decisions, exceptions, and approvals, and keeping all customer interactions and CRM records up to date
- Updating conversion documentation as you discover better methods or new edge cases in source systems, and suggesting tooling or automation that makes conversions faster and more accurate
- Supporting occasional go-live conversions outside normal business hours
- Helping other teams with data questions and taking on other duties as needed
We're looking for a detail-oriented problem solver who enjoys working with data and can explain technical work clearly to the people who depend on it.
Required Qualifications- Degree, diploma, or certificate in computer science, information systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience
- 1+ years of experience working with data in a technical, analytical, or customer-facing role
- Strong Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, and pivot tables; macros a plus
- Experience working with relational databases
- Strong attention to detail and the discipline to follow quality assurance processes on every conversion
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple conversions at once and deliver on scheduled go-live dates
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment, embraces ownership, and enjoys solving difficult data problems
Experience with one or more of the following:
- Dental, medical, or other healthcare data
- Dental practice management systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Open Dental
- ETL or data quality tools, or scripting in Python or a similar language
- Legacy or flat-file databases such as Btrieve or c-tree
- Data profiling, data mapping, and data quality analysis
- Patient data privacy requirements, such as HIPAA in the US or PIPEDA in Canada
- Working knowledge of SQL, including writing queries, joins, and data transformations
- Customer onboarding or implementation in a SaaS environment
Skills Required
