Dropbox is seeking an experienced Data Center Technician to support the buildout and ongoing operations of our global network of data centers and Points of Presence (PoPs). In this role, you'll be part of a specialized and growing team responsible for the physical infrastructure at Dropbox.
The ideal candidate will also have extensive hands-on experience in datacenter environments and Points of Presence (PoPs), with proven expertise in the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of networking and server hardware, including routers, switches, and servers.
Responsibilities- Work with the datacenter team to handle any abnormal conditions in our data center.
- Understand, troubleshoot, and fix broken servers.
- Install servers, racks and network gear in our data centers.
- Work with the datacenter team to deploy new data center infrastructure.
- Assist with promoting best practices in a data center.
- Work closely with SRE and Network Engineering to automate and refine processes.
- Responsible for handling incoming shipments and track server assets.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with large-scale datacenter hardware deployments, and able to build and scale infrastructure.
- Intermediate knowledge of network topology, ability to troubleshoot physical network connectivity problems (fiber and copper).
- Experience with desktop PC and/or datacenter server hardware.
- Intermediate knowledge of Linux, operational understanding of and how to modify/add DNS zone files, experience using version control such as git or hg, basic scripting, and regular expressions.
- Able to lift 9-23 kg on a daily basis.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time and project management skills.
