Role Overview
The Technology Architect is responsible for developing,
recommending, implementing, and managing technical architecture across
hardware, software, databases, and communications. This role supports large,
distributed, cross‑platform environments and plays a key role in translating
business and system requirements into scalable, secure, and high‑performing
technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Work
with multiple stakeholders to understand and capture business, functional,
and system requirements
- Develop
technical architecture and high‑level designs for data and technology
solutions
- Lead
or support technology evaluations and solution selection
- Support
the creation of detailed designs and associated project plans
- Act
as the architect supporting delivery teams across multiple initiatives
- Lead
or contribute to data governance initiatives
- Translate
business requirements into reporting and data needs
- Prepare
conceptual, logical, and physical process and data models
- Design
and guide teams using ITIL‑aligned processes
- Contribute
to enterprise architecture deliverables such as models and standards
Qualifications & Skills
General Skills
- Leadership
experience designing and implementing technical architectures
- Experience
across multiple platforms, operating systems, databases, and communication
protocols
- Strong
background in middleware, gateways, and integration patterns
- Knowledge
of performance considerations across environments
- Experience
with structured design and development methodologies
- Extensive
systems analysis and design experience in large environments
- Experience
with CASE tools and project management tools
- Awareness
of emerging technologies and industry trends
- Strong
analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and negotiation skills
- Proven
ability to meet deadlines and work effectively in teams
Skills & Qualifications
- Relevant
education, preferably in security, data, or AI‑related disciplines
- 5+
years of experience as a Technology or Data Architect
- Hands‑on
experience with modern cloud, data, and security technologies
- Experience
with data development tools and coding languages
- Agile
and traditional project delivery experience
- Strong
stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Ability
to work in fast‑paced, data‑driven environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience
supporting large‑scale distributed systems with multiple stakeholders
Must‑Have Experience
- Experience
with Ontario public‑sector architecture review processes
- Strong
cloud architecture experience
- Oracle
database experience

- Relevant education, preferably in security, data, or AI-related disciplines
- Experience with Ontario public-sector architecture review processes
- Strong cloud architecture experience
- Oracle database experience
