This is a remote position.

Our current client is searching for a Data Architect for a 3 month contract with a major Telecom Services company.

This data architect will fill a contract interim role until a more permanent resource can be identified.

The client will be moving to Snowflake as their warehouse tool with Talend for ETL, and MS Power BI for front end reporting. For this short-term contract position, the client will be looking for someone to drive strategy, rather than to fill in data architecture needs. The permanent long-term resource will own our data architecture program.

The key outline of the role is below.

Responsibilities:

-Drive the overall design of the data and technical architecture for data warehousing and reporting systems

  • Research best practices, trends and solutions in data warehousing and business intelligence technologies
  • Drive the utilization of advanced tools and techniques to maximize development and support productivity
  • Perform technology evaluations and recommend selection
  • Develop and maintain an architectural vision for data warehousing and business intelligence tools and technologies
  • Ensure proper backup and recovery processes are in place for data repositories
-Ensure that new and existing business intelligence and data warehousing solutions conform to the architecture and meet the needs of our customers
  • Own and drive the development of logical and physical data models, ETL (Extract, transform, and load) scripts, metadata definitions and models, queries, schedules, work processes and maintenance procedures
  • Assist in the identification and resolution of inefficiencies and recommends solutions in data modeling and database design
  • Mentor team members to ensure accurate identification, definition, and interpretation of data requirements and data modeling needs
  • Work with other members of the technical development team to provide guidance on best practices for data architecture. Share data modeling/database design knowledge with team members
  • Conduct data quality reviews to ensure standards are being followed. Leads the maintenance of data governance process and procedures.

-Management of key business/client relationships and improvements to business performance

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key business users and stakeholders
  • Enhance and maintain professional relationships with clients, co-workers, management, vendors, and other organizations
  • Participate in Portfolio Management process including input and updates to tools
  • Create initiation requests, opportunity assessments, and business cases

-Lead data warehouse and reporting projects

  • Create architecture diagrams, data models, data designs and high-level process flows
  • Create operational support documentation and review with business stakeholders
  • Gather and review infrastructure requirements and process models
  • Develop database sizing estimates to ensure that storage is properly allocated
  • Develop security models to protect sensitive/restricted data in the environment
  • Oversee and participate in developing data extracts, transformations, loads and reports
  • Act as a lead in the execution of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodology


Requirements

Familiarity with Snowflake and ETL products such as Informatica or Talend or Spotfire a plus (verging on necessary). Experience with SAP highly desirable.


Possible onsite travel, if any.
