The NISC IV program at Leidos is seeking an experienced Data Architect to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in relational database design, stored procedure development, and complex data migrations. In this role, you will be responsible for architecting scalable and efficient data systems that align with our business goals and ensure high performance, security, and reliability across platforms. Your work will help shape strategic decisions, optimize operations, and optimize solutions that will directly support aviation safety for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design and develop relational data models based on business and system requirements, with strong emphasis on normalization and data integrity.
- Develop, implement, and maintain complex stored procedures and database scripts.
- Perform and oversee large-scale data migrations between heterogeneous database management systems.
- Write, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL, and other database programming languages.
- Develop and maintain RESTful API endpoints for secure and reliable data integration across applications.
- Manage and monitor large relational database environments, ensuring uptime, performance, and scalability.
- Collaborate closely with data analysts, software developers, and system architects to ensure data consistency across the organization.
- Establish best practices and standards for database architecture, documentation, and security.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Data Architecture and Management, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data architecture, database development, or a similar role.
- Proficiency in relational database systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
- Strong understanding of database normalization, data modeling (ERD), and schema design.
- Experience in developing and managing stored procedures, triggers, and views.
- Deep understanding of SQL programming and performance tuning.
- Proven experience in large-scale data migrations between different database platforms.
- Hands-on experience developing and maintaining APIs to support data operations.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to translate complex findings into actionable insights.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Optimistic attitude, poise, and team player.
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance Suitability (To be eligible for Public Trust Security Clearance, one must be either a U.S. Citizen OR a U.S. Permanent Resident/Green Card holder who has resided in the U.S.A for the past 3 years.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL).
- Familiarity with data governance, security best practices, and compliance standards.
- Exposure to NoSQL or distributed database technologies is a plus.

Pay Range:Pay Range $104,650.00 - $189,175.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
