The Data Architect for Enterprise Analytics is responsible for Designing, developing, implementing, and optimizing data management and architecture strategies that align with business needs. This role ensures the completeness of architecture by addressing the key concerns of stakeholders and the broader enterprise, ensuring its integrity by connecting stakeholder views and resolving interests. The architect evaluates the practicality and fitness of architecture solutions, leveraging both business and technology insights to enhance or transform processes, practices, and systems. Staying informed on emerging technologies and industry trends, the Data Architect may also lead special projects, driving innovation and alignment across the enterprise.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, healthcare IT, or a related field.
2. OR High school diploma or equivalent AND Ten (10) years’ experience performing the same as above..
3. This position may require additional certification in support of the responsibilities of the position, which will be provided by WVUHS Information Technology. Certification completion will be required within four months of formal certification training completion.
4. Internal employees must meet all mandatory competencies in current position to qualify for promotion within IT.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Minimum of 6 years of experience in database architecture, data management life cycle, data warehouse solutions, and cloud solutions.
2. Hands-on experience with relational database design, query optimization, ETL processing, and data management.
3. Experience with building and deploying SSIS packages.
4. Experience with processing real time data.
5. Experience in designing and implementing enterprise-wide imaging solutions, including knowledge of system architecture, scalability, and integration.
6. Strong problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving issues related to ETL processing, and their integration with other IT systems.
7. Experience with integrating imaging systems with other healthcare IT systems such as Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR), Health Information Systems (HIS), and Clinical Information Systems (CIS).
8. Experience working with vendors and coordinating with external partners.
9. Proficiency in managing large volumes of structured and unstructured data, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance with regulations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EXPERIENCE:
1. 10 years of experience in data architecture, specifically within healthcare environments, involving complex healthcare data systems and solutions.
2. Experience working with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and real-time data integration in a healthcare environment.
3. Extensive experience with population health management, clinical data modeling, and predictive analytics in healthcare.
4. Experience in managing and optimizing healthcare interoperability solutions, including HL7 FHIR and API-based integrations.
5. Prior experience leading large-scale data migration or system integration projects in healthcare settings, such as transitioning legacy systems to cloud-based or modern data platforms.
6. Experience with healthcare-specific business intelligence tools (e.g., Epic's Clarity, Cerner's HealtheIntent, Tableau in healthcare contexts).
7. Strong track record of ensuring data governance and adherence to regulatory frameworks (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH) in previous roles.
8. Experience with integrating imaging systems with other healthcare IT systems such as Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR), Health Information Systems (HIS), and Clinical Information Systems (CIS).
9. Experience working with vendors, managing contracts, and coordinating with external partners for system procurement and support.
10. Proficiency in managing large volumes of data, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance with regulations.
11. Understanding of clinical workflows and how imaging systems support and enhance these workflows. Ability to design systems that align with and improve these processes.
12. Proven track record of leading complex IT projects related to imaging systems, from planning and design through implementation and support.
13. Knowledge of and experience with emerging imaging technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI) for image analysis, machine learning algorithms, and cloud-based imaging solutions.
14. Ability to develop and implement long-term strategic plans for imaging systems that align with organizational goals and clinical needs.
15. Knowledge of current and emerging trends in medical imaging, including advancements in imaging modalities, technologies, and best practices.
16. Active participation in industry organizations, conferences, and professional networks to stay current with industry developments and build relationships with other experts.

2. Problem Identification and Resolution: Provide high-level technical support for complex issues related to data and analytics systems. Troubleshoot and resolve system problems efficiently. Oversee regular maintenance and updates to ensure optimal system performance and security.
3. System Management: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data management solutions including system architecture, configuration details, and user manuals. Prepare and present reports on system performance, project progress, and strategic initiatives to senior management and other stakeholders.
4. Project Coordination: Manage data-related projects from conception through deployment, including system upgrades, new implementations, and technology rollouts. to ensure the delivery of high-quality products and services. Participate in enterprise budgets, timelines, and resources planning.
5. Team Building: Foster collaboration, provide training, encouraging innovation and mentor team. Foster a cohesive, motivated, and high-performing team that drives the successful implementation and management of database and analytical systems.
6. Training & Education: Develop and train analytics staff on database best practice methodologies.
7. Leadership: Collaborate with clinical staff, IT teams, and management to understand data requirements and ensure that solutions meet organizational requirements. Ensure database systems comply with relevant regulations and standards, including HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) standards.
8. Innovation and Improvement: Identify opportunities for innovation throughout the data management life cycle. Propose and implement enhancements to improve database efficiency, capabilities and governance. Monitor system performance and gather feedback to drive continuous improvement throughout the data management life cycle.
9. Policy and Procedure Development: Create and enforce policies and procedures related to data management, security, and usage. Ensure that policies are followed by all users and that systems operate according to established guidelines.
10. Risk Management: Assess potential risks associated with imaging systems, including security vulnerabilities and compliance issues. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks and ensure system reliability and data protection.
