Awardco is seeking a driven and team-oriented individual to join our Data Operations team as a Data Architect. In this position, you will play a crucial role in the design, development, and maintenance of our data infrastructure and pipelines, ensuring that our organization has access to high-quality, reliable, and timely data for informed decision-making.
What you will do:
- Data Pipeline Development: Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines to collect, process, and transform data from various sources into a unified data warehouse in Snowflake.
- Data Modeling: Using the Kimball methodology, create and optimize data models to support reporting and analytics needs, ensuring data accuracy and efficiency.
- Data Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data from multiple systems and sources, including APIs, databases, and third-party data providers.
- ELT/ETL: Develop and manage ELT processes to extract data, load it into Snowflake, and apply necessary transformations using Coalesce.
- Data Quality Assurance: Implement data quality checks and validation processes to ensure the accuracy and completeness of data stored in the data warehouse.
- Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize data pipelines and queries for improved performance and efficiency.
- Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain data security protocols and compliance standards to protect sensitive data and ensure adherence to regulations (e.g., GDPR, China data privacy laws, etc.).
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data pipelines, data models, and ETL processes.
- Troubleshooting and Support: Identify and resolve data-related issues, provide technical support to end-users, and collaborate with the IT team as needed.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with data analysts, report writers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet their needs.
What you will bring:
- Experience with data warehousing in Snowflake, including data loading, modeling, and optimization. Data architecture will follow the Kimball methodology.
- Proficiency in Coalesce and/or dbt for data transformation and modeling within a Snowflake environment.
- Highly skilled and experienced in writing advanced SQL and using database technologies, including ETL tools.
- Experience using FiveTran is a plus.
- 7+ years of professional experience in data engineering, preferably within a BI/Analytics environment.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
- Proficiency in data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT processes, and data modeling following the Kimball Methodology.
- Strong programming skills in Python is highly preferred.
- Experience with data integration tools and technologies.
- Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Github) is a plus.
