Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Architect to join our Data Science and Engineering team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our data architecture to support advanced analytics, data integration, and business intelligence initiatives. As a Data Architect, you will not only design but also execute and maintain the data architecture, ensuring it is robust, scalable, and aligned with our business objectives. You will collaborate closely with data scientists, engineers, and other stakeholders to bring these designs to life.
Location: Remote - US (Preference to applicants located in GA, TN, SC, NC, FL, TX & PA)
Reports to: Director of Data Science and Engineering
As a Data Architect at Trella, you will:
- Data Architecture Design and Execution: Design, implement, and maintain the enterprise data architecture, ensuring it supports current and future data processing and storage needs.
- Data Integration: Design and implement data integration processes to consolidate data from multiple sources into a unified and accessible data platform.
- Data Modeling: Create and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models that support data warehousing, data lakes, and operational databases.
- Data Governance: Establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data quality, security, and compliance.
- Technology Evaluation: Evaluate, recommend, and implement data management tools and technologies to enhance data architecture and performance.
- Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into effective, executable data solutions.
- Performance Optimization: Identify and resolve data performance issues, ensuring optimal performance and scalability of data systems.
- Documentation: Document data architecture, data flows, and technical specifications to provide a clear understanding of data systems and processes.
- Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in data architecture and data management to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
This job might be a fit for you if you have:
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or a related role.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in data modeling, database design, and data warehousing concepts.
- Refactoring strategy to improve maintainability, scalability, dependency management of large database script repositories.
- Experience with data integration tools and ETL processes.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and Python.
- Strong knowledge with cloud platforms, especially Snowflake, and related cost management. Databricks is nice-to-have.
- Expertise in big data architectures, including data lakes, lakehouses, and machine learning architectures.
- Proficiency in integrating business intelligence tools like PowerBI and Tableau into the overall data architecture.
- Understanding of data governance and data QA practices.
- Knowledge of medical claims data, including Medicare FFS, Commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare Advantage, with an understanding of data ontology and taxonomy.
- Experience working with medical coding systems (ICD10, CPT, HCPCS, MS DRG, NPPES, NPI, etc.)
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Teamwork: Proven ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
