Responsibilities:

  • Architects, implements, and maintains a modern enterprise data platform using Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse, and Databricks
  • Designs robust tabular models using SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) and Tabular Editor for optimized Power BI reporting
  • Develops and enforces standards for data modeling, semantic layer design, and performance optimization
  • Collaborates with BIM, project controls, finance, and operations teams to integrate construction, scheduling, and cost data
  • Leads data integration strategies across on-premises SQL Server systems, cloud services, and third-party platforms
  • Collaborates with the technology peers and business functions to engineer, integrate, review and approve technology solutions
  • Implements and maintains data governance, security, and compliance protocols in line with industry and organizational standards
  • Supports and mentors data engineers and BI developers on best practices for ETL/ELT, DAX, and Power BI development
  • Authors and maintains appropriate architectural standards, roadmaps, and other related documentation
  • Manages the lifecycle of Power BI datasets, including incremental refresh, partitioning and parameterization
  • Translates AEC-specific data needs into scalable data solutions, enabling real-time and historical insights into KPIs such as earned value, WIP, RFI metrics, and resource utilization
  • Provides afterhours engagement as needed for high severity situations
  • Performs other duties assigned by leadership

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 4+ years of experience in data architecture or enterprise BI development
  • Proven expertise in:
    • Azure Data Services (Data Lake Storage, Synapse, Data Factory, Purview)
    • Databricks (Delta Lake, Spark SQL, notebooks)
    • SQL Server, including SSAS Tabular models
    • Power BI (DAX, composite models, row-level security)
    • Tabular Editor (v2 or v3, C# scripting, deployment automation)
  • Experience with large data volumes, real-time data ingestion, and pipeline orchestration.
  • Experience in MS Office Suite
  • Proficiency in reporting tools such as SSRS, Power BI, Tableau, etc.
  • Solid understanding of the AEC domain, project lifecycle, and key data entities (e.g., schedules, budgets, drawings, RFIs, submittals)
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling techniques (Kimball/star schema, data vault, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of data visualization principles, best practices, and user experience design
  • Solid knowledge of SQL, DAX, and data querying to extract and manipulate data
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of staff
  • Strong work ethic and eagerness to produce high quality, accurate results
  • Ability to work with large data sets and perform data analysis to derive meaningful insights
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to hold sensitive information with a high level of confidentiality and integrity
  • Ability to communicate and present ideas in a clear, concise and professional manner both verbally and in writing
