The Data Analytics Intern collaborates with Data Analysts, Data Engineers, Analytics Managers, and Business Relationship Managers on small to medium-scale projects. The role involves designing and implementing advanced analytics solutions, including dashboards, data models, and visualizations, to provide insights and support business strategies. The intern will work with multiple data sources and tools, contributing to reporting, analysis, and data integration, while engaging with global teams for cross-functional collaboration.
 

What will you be doing?

• The role involves designing, developing, and deploying high-fidelity operational, strategic, and analytical reports and dashboards. These tools provide real-time visibility, track key performance indicators, and analyze trends and forecasts to support business decision-making. All implementations adhere to industry standards and best practices to ensure secure data access and system integrity.

• A key responsibility includes building and implementing machine learning and AI capabilities to address business challenges in line with Smith & Nephew’s IT and Analytics Strategy. The role also supports and maintains the analytics user experience, overseeing dashboard content, release management, and user administration while ensuring documentation remains current and accurate.

• Additionally, the position contributes to the Data Analytics Centre of Excellence (COE) through exploratory data analysis, prototype development, and data science research. Collaboration with Data Engineers is essential to drive automation, improve processes, and enhance productivity. The role also includes mentoring end-users and facilitating knowledge transfer through guided analytics, training materials, and support tools.
   

What will you need to be successful?

• The ideal candidate should be pursuing or have completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field from a reputable institution, and must be able to commit to a full-time, one-year internship. While certifications in Python, Machine Learning, AI, Power BI, and SQL are desirable, they are not mandatory. Familiarity with tools such as PowerApps, Power Automate, Alteryx, and cloud platforms like Azure or Snowflake, along with knowledge of Azure DevOps, would be an advantage.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as the intern will be expected to engage with internal and external stakeholders professionally and confidently. The role requires an individual who is self-motivated, can work independently, and is capable of contributing to team discussions on technical and business strategies. The ability to align technical work with broader business objectives and articulate insights clearly is critical for success in this position.
