THE TEAM

The mission of the Engineering Enablement Department — our platform organization — is to provide the composable building blocks, unified foundations, and operational guardrails that empower teams to assemble world-class engineering, data, and AI solutions at scale.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Aritzia is growing, and our Engineering Enablement team is growing with it. This is a unique opportunity to be the talent anchor of our Platform organization, the team responsible for building the technical foundation that powers Aritzia. As Senior Engineering Manager/Engineering Manager, you will own the talent lifecycle for a team of high-performing engineers — from hiring and onboarding to performance calibration and career development. You will build high-trust teams, ensuring they are staffed, skilled, and psychologically safe, while driving organizational health and operational excellence. With the skills you gain in this role, the opportunities are endless — from a rewarding career in Technology to continued growth and development with Aritzia.

THE ROLE

As the Senior Engineering Manager/Engineering Manager, you will:

  • Lead and advance our people, through end-to-end people leadership across the 10 areas of management: Planning, Hiring, Onboarding, Evaluating, Developing, Engaging, Scheduling, Compensating, Transitioning, and Mitigating
  • Ensure the team can execute against priorities by maintaining operational health (capacity, quality, sustainable pace) and partnering with Tech Leads and TPMs on planning, sequencing, and delivery
  • Align individual performance and career planning with departmental goals, while partnering with TPMs on capacity planning to ensure the right headcount and skill mix are available to execute the roadmap
  • Cultivate a collaborative environment centered on open communication, fostering fearless feedback and blameless retrospectives to drive continuous improvement
  • Ensure teams are properly staffed and skilled to execute against product mandates, while coaching teams on DORA metrics (velocity & stability) to remove blockers and improve throughput
  • Partner with Tech Leads to apply DORA and SPACE to balance delivery and sustainability: improve throughput and stability (DORA) while monitoring engagement and cognitive load (SPACE), using staffing, scope, and operational improvements to prevent burnout

THE QUALIFICATIONS

The Senior Engineering Manager/Engineering Manager has:

  • A commitment to learn, apply, champion and enrich Aritzia's Values and Business and People Leadership principles
  • The skills to collaborate strategically with cross-functional partners in the pursuit of shared business outcomes
  • Excellent communication skills to translate technical concepts for stakeholders and make decisions under pressure
  • The ability to translate high-level strategy into clear expectations and accountability for the team (outcomes, responsibilities, growth plans), partnering with Tech Leads and TPMs on execution
  • A dedication to quality and investing in results and new business opportunities that add value
  • Proven skills, education, and/or applicable certifications in:
    • Demonstrated strength in people management applied specifically within a technical context
    • Experience using metrics (DORA/SPACE) to improve throughput and team health
    • Skilled in navigating interpersonal conflict, managing burnout risks, and fostering psychological safety to maintain high-trust squads in high-pressure environments
    • Sufficient understanding of modern software engineering (Cloud, DevOps, Data, AI) to evaluate performance, hire top-tier technical talent, and coach engineers
    • Proficiency in operational health reporting, utilizing data to identify capacity bottlenecks, resource allocation needs, and systemic friction
  • A sense of urgency and ability to prioritize important work
  • An understanding and a passion for the industry in which we operate

What We Do

ABOUT ARITZIA
Aritzia is a design house with an innovative global platform. We are creators and purveyors of Everyday Luxury, home to an extensive portfolio of exclusive brands for every function and individual aesthetic. We’re about good design, quality materials and timeless style — all with the wellbeing of our People and Planet in mind.

Founded in 1984 in Vancouver, Canada, we pride ourselves on creating immersive, highly personalized shopping experiences at aritzia.com and in our 115+ boutiques throughout North America — for everyone, everywhere.

OUR APPROACH
Aritzia means style, not trend, and quality over everything. We treat each in-house label as its own atelier, united by premium fabrics, meticulous construction and an of-the-moment point of view. We handpick fabrics from the world’s best mills for their feel, function and ability to last. We obsess over proportion, fit and that just-right silhouette. From hand-painted prints to the art of pocket placement, our innovative design studio considers and reconsiders each detail to create essentials you’ll reach for again, and again, and again. If it isn’t just right, it isn’t Aritzia.

We’re honored to be recognized by Forbes as one of Canada’s Best Employers (2023). The ranking is based on survey results from 12,000 working Canadians.
